About Me

CURRENT MISSION

see more of Europe, learn Italian and Java, and afterwards, improve psychopharmacology

ABOUT ME

Wherever I am, I like to spend my time with old or new friends, having good coffee and great food, listening to good songs and dancing to bad ones, and enjoying, discussing and studying life as we go.

I love exploring what the world has to offer and try and hold on to best parts. For example, the Brit's language and wit; the Italian's appreciation of good food and coffee; the Flamish sweetness and modesty; the Ozzie's 'no worries' life style, along with the Dutchies attitude of getting as much out of life as possible; and the Andalusian art of decorating an entire town with gorgeous azulejos.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the moment, enjoy life.
Also: listen to your body, and take good care of yourself, so you can take good care of others.

I like the quote 'de zin van het leven is de zin in het leven', meaning: as long as you enjoy life, life has a meaning :)
and to do so, appreciate and look for the good things in life, surround yourself with positive and friendly people, and do the things that make you happy. If you're stuck, try dancing, yoga, and good food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed couches in Antwerp and Paris. In Utrecht, I've been part of the CS teachers group for Dutch lessons, and the legendary Vet Boi Slim Dans Klup. Last year, I had a nice little international boost, and shared my 8 months in the UK with a range of fantastic people from France, Switzerland, US, NZ, and many more. Now, back home, it's time for some new real CS experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best thing about CS is meeting many different people, who are all similar in being open and interested, and feel like sharing their space and/or cultural knowledge with others.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Moulin Rouge!, Finding Nemo, Amélie, Magnolia, Sin City, La Vita è Bella, The Story of the Weeping Camel, Mary Poppins, Hitchcock, Audrey Hepburn, Delicatessen, ...
Books: not very literal I suppose, but I tend to like books that are made into films(: starting with Winnie the Pooh, followed by Whale Rider and of course The Hitchhiker's Guide.
Music: start at indie, lean towards Britain, add a little blues and/or electro, take a holiday to cuba, fly back over australia, and try to avoid volendam. Couple of current fav-artists: The Black Keys, Beirut, The Rapture, Vampire Weekend,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing is Uluru/ayer's rock. Sounds like a cliché, but it actually is incredibly amazing when you see it! Snorkling the GBR wasn't bad either.

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't think that cats do not attach to people. They do.
Don't think everyone from Groningen is a farmer. Don't think farmers are stupid. The ones I know are pretty damn bright people.
Listen to Everybody's Free by Baz Luhrmann for more nice advice.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, France, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
