Overview
About Me
I'm a math PhD student at SUNY Stony Brook (starting in Aug 2017). I enjoy hammocking, reading, biking, going on adventures, trying new things, having conversations, and enjoying life.
I'm a down-to-earth, environmentalist, math-enthusiast, vegan introvert discovering Buddhism who likes to meet new people (despite being introverted)! I tend to be quiet in a large group, but I enjoy hanging out and talking in a group of 2 or 3 people. I like the feel of adventure and seeing new places and experiencing new things. I travel lightly and recognize that there's not much you need in life other than some shelter, some food, some companionship, and some work or activity to satisfy a need for purpose. I'm not very interested in material things, but in experiences such as food, nature, culture, and meeting others. Religion interests me and listening to why people believe what they believe. I enjoy cooking and eating with people and learning new ways to cook.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's easy to book a hostel. It's kind of hard to find a couch with a host with similar interests. However, I've had great experiences staying with people through CS and find it more meaningful and satisfying than traveling in hostels (although they can be fun, too).
When I move to New York, I hope to start hosting, but I doubt to get many requests since I'll be a good bit out of the city.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I played handbells in Canterbury Cathedral and many others on a tour across England.
I walked 900+ km across Spain.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about myself, my personal philosophy, and Texas culture.
I'd love to learn about anything my guest/host is passionate about. Talking with someone about their true passions is always fun.
I'd enjoy sharing a meal, a drink, and if we have time, a day outdoors exploring.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Texas culture, conversation in English and Spanish, a passion for adventure. I can talk about math and why I find it the most beautiful subject :)
