Overview
About Me
Recent graduate (University of Oxford, St. John's College) of Biological Sciences. Hoping to begin graduate studies in the next couple of years. Currently s research assistant at Harvard University, Massachussetts.
I am using the money I saved from working in London over the Summer to try and see the bizarre continent of S. America, and learn some Spanish in the process, before beginning my Masters in Paris next year.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have just finished university and fancy myself quite free in the world. As much as I want to learn from everyone I meet, I enjoy little more than telling my stories and experiences to others during transient friendships.
Specifically, I am quite itching to learn more languages. Spanish and Italian are my priorities, so am directing my searches towards hosts in the appropriate countries.
The thought of going to work and beginning a lifelong career in London at the age of 21 has triggered me to attempt the opposite. I want to see everything, and learn everything I can about it in the meantime.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I play the classical guitar, so am academic about Spanish and South American guitar music. But more mainstream classical music too. I love US Soul and Blues music.
Movies: from both ends of the spectrum - I enjoy the esteemed, Oscar winners such as Birdman, Grand Budapest Hotel etc , but am a sucker for special effects e.g. Pacific Rim, Avengers, LOTR
Books: I try to read the central books of a culture when I visit, so my interests are so varied. I know most about Victorian and wartime British, namely Virginia Woolf and George Orwell. Reading is essential to me. My greatest literary passion is the poetry of the romantics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This year I've been to 15 countries and counting. Hoping to bring this to 25.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lots of conversation, from literature to science to language. I honestly find almost anything interesting so long as it is different. I read extensively and enjoy nothing more than exercising my voice, opinion and picking up little treasures of culture you only obtain from meeting local peoples.
I am half Chinese, a culture much of the Western world is quite incognisant of. So I can teach you the basics of the language, the history and quirks of being Chinese, but as I am also an Oxford graduate, the quirks of British institutions too.
