About Me

Hello! I'm Tim and from England, feel free to see my Instagram on _timbarrass. This summer I graduated with a 2:1 in History from the University of Hull. I have just finished working at an American summer camp on the adventure program for the last two months! I am currently travelling the USA, so far I have been lucky enough to visit Maine, Boston, DC, Atlanta, the Grand Canyon and San Fran, staying on friends sofas and hostels along the way. My goal is to become a teacher, so I will be volunteering in schools across the world this year to gain experience.I like to travel, which teaching will allow me to do, and the aim for the next two years is to get my teaching qualifications in Australia, then travel around the world teaching. I enjoy to hike and explore new places by foot, and feel very lucky that I have the opportunity to explore the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couch surfing because I have just finished my placement at Camp Laurel South in Maine, and now I have 30 days to travel the West Coast! Couch surfing provides a unique experience whilst travelling, getting top tips from the people you stay with about the area. I would much rather do this than stay in a fancy hotel that doesn't represent the area I'm exploring! Although my home town isn't that exciting, when I move abroad I will be able to return the favour to everyone who has been kind enough to let me stay with them so far. I would be so grateful to anyone letting me stay with them, it's allowed me to experience the USA in a special way.

Interests

As previously mentioned, I enjoy hiking and exploring places on foot, as that is how you really get a feeling for an area. I worked on the adventure program at camp, so climbing and high ropes are another enjoyment of mine. I enjoying cycling and playing tennis, and I can play the trumpet. I enjoy all water sports, kayaking is probably my favourite!

Music, Movies, and Books

These depend on my mood, but my favourite book is definitely Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. My favourite movie is Shawshank Redemption, and my favourite bands include Ben Howard and Florence and the Machine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Graduating was a huge part of my life this year, though personally the amazing thing I have done is working at the summer camp this year. The experiences I have had in America such as visiting the Grand Canyon and San Fran have been incredible, and as it's my first time solo travelling abroad, this is definitely the best experience I have ever had. I look forward to all my future adventures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

They can ask me anything, I love to get to know people and am open about anything they would ask!

I have travelled over the last few years, as well as worked and volunteered in many sectors to try and discover what my passion is. I would love to get to know my host, share my experiences and thoughts on our world, and discuss whatever issue or topic they find passionate or interesting. Memories are best shared with others, and even my briefest of meetings with strangers have often proved to be the best.
