About Me

Just started living the dream, having recently gotten myself into a position where I can travel and work as I want.

Based in Australia and in Europe for the summer of 2018. May head to Thailand after that, unsure, and that's fine.

Basically just letting the universe take me where it will. Enjoying life, the adventures, and the people I meet.

I'm a bit of a mixed bag, guess you would describe me as a jack of all trades, master of none. Can be intellectual, or creative, or a joker, or spiritual, or the explorer, or the carer, or any one of a number of different personas as situations dictate.

The one characteristic I tend to wear all the time is adaptability, not too much fazes me. Walking in the rain with no umbrella generally puts a smile on my face when others are running for cover. If you can't change it, why worry about it or let it bother you?

While I'm in IT now, I was born and raised a country boy, I'm certainly no stranger to a hard days work or getting my hands dirty. Something very satisfying about getting sweaty and dirty, to see the results of a days work. And the shower afterwards is all that much better!

So that's me, kind of, in the smallest of nutshells. Hope to tell you more, if we have the pleasure of meeting!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Basically I'm here to meet some new people, to have more personal and meaningful experiences as I explore, and to get some insight into local traditions, knowledge, customs, and experiences.

And if I get a tip for somewhere great to eat some fantastic local food or where to go to sip an exceptional wine while the sun sets behind me as I read a few pages of my book, all the better.

Or perhaps we could cook together if I can find a local market to pick up some fresh produce, as we discuss the intricate nature of life?

Ideally, I want to meet some real people and share some real stories :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow... really???

Music ranges through most genres, a bit of a cop out, but if it is good music, I generally listen to it. As an example, while programming I generally listen to either classical or psy-trance, just to give you a clue of my range!

Movies include drama, psychological thrillers and sci-fi.

Books... oh dear... started with fantasy (Lord of the Rings, Magician, Wheel of Time) in my teens, moved into sci-fi (Asimov, Phillip K Dick), then a range of fiction and is currently a mixture of history, personal growth and auto-biographies. A wide range to say the least...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to the other side of the world for love... Which ultimately failed after 7 years...

But I wouldn't change a second of it. I made my fair share of mistakes, but they have helped shape who and where I am today.

The entire experience helped me grow so much as an individual and opened my eyes to a whole part of life I did not truly comprehend.

Life changing, to say the least!

Teach, Learn, Share

Sure... why not... sounds like the recipe to a successful life...

As a web-dev guy, I have to say this isn't too clear as to what they want from me here. So people in the UI team, please take note... if you want something from your users, make it EASY to understand :)
