Overview
About Me
I'm a graduate in foreign languages and have spent the last year and a half living abroad. I was an English teacher in Spain for a year and I've spent the last 4 months working as a sous chef at a yoga retreat just outside Sydney. In between that I spent some time travelling through Thailand and Vietnam and am soon to travel around Australia and New Zealand
In my spare time I love going to see live music, seeing my friends, reading, hiking/spending time in nature and doing yoga.
Also I really really love dogs. Like an unhealthy obsession.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It sounds a bit cliché but of course to meet locals in the areas because they're the ones who really know what the city is like. I always like chatting to new people and learning about new cultures too.
Interests
- Foreign languages
I really do love learning languages to the point that I used to procrastinate by studying German as opposed to the languages I actually studied.

-Linguistics
I have a really nerdy passion for words, and I especially love etymology and historical linguistics. I'm pretty sure one day I'll do a masters in this area.

Music, Movies, and Books
In terms of books I love magic realism (Garcia Marquez, Rushdie, Murakami) and anything introspective like Virginia Woolf or Sylvia Plath. Also I really love the idea of the death of the American dream in literature so F Scott Fitzgerald and Richard Yates are some other favourites.
My favourite film is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I'm also a big fan of Lost in Translation. I love the films of Xavier Dolan, especially Mommy and Les Amours Imaginaires.
As for music, I love most kinds of rock, some electronic music and some acousticy stuff too. I always think it's easier to just list some of my favourite artists so here you go:
The Smiths, The Cure, alt-J, Boards of Canada, Caribou, Death Cab for Cutie, Digitalism, The War on Drugs, Grimes, Tame Impala, The National, The Shins, Puppy
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camped in a Finnish national park and swam in a freezing lake there
Made 1000 paper cranes (it's a Japanese legend that if you make 1000 you will have good luck) and shared them out with strangers at Brighton gay pride
Hiked to the top of a mountain in Japan
Lived in Paris for a year
Went whale watching in Iceland
Catered a wedding of 200 people
Teach, Learn, Share
English! I have a qualification as an English teacher so would love to help you practise. I'm also pretty good at French and Spanish so would love to help you with that too. If for whatever reason you're interested in historical linguistics I know a fair amount about the development of the French language too.
I've also worked in a kitchen as a sous chef and love cooking vegetarian/vegan food, so I'd love to cook for you or share some recipes.
Also I can teach you how to make origami!
I'd love to share my travel experiences with you and learn about yours too :)
