My name is Tim Laninga and i'm 24 years old. I live in a small village in the Netherlands called Zwartsluis. Zwartsluis is a very beautiful village which is characterized by all the water around it. In the summer it is wonderful to sail there by boat. And in winter you can iceskate everywhere.

I worked as a civil installation engineer for a few years. and now I work as a mechanic in the army. I have 2 deployments to my name. Afghanistan and Dubai.

The first beautiful trip I experienced is China. i have been there for 2 weeks with my brother. We visited
Beijing, Shanghai and Xian. My work also allows me to visit beautiful places, because of this I have discovered how much I enjoy traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started couchsurfing earlier this year. And to test it I went to barcelona for 4 days. I had a great 4 days thanks to the people I got to know there. Drinks and dances on the beach. Exploring the city with new friends. enjoy the food with locals. And that's why I'm on couchsurfing. see new countries with new people and share stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My two week trip through China was amazing. For the first time in a country far away.

But my deployment to Afghanistan and Dubai was also very special to work for a few months in a foreign country. In Afghanistan we renovated the camp. and in dubai the underground infrastructure.

Thanks to these trips I have discovered how much I enjoy visiting other countries and meeting new people.
