Overview
About Me
Former English student, current itchy footed office worker and soon to be urban planning masters student.
I want to travel, meet people, see cities, see mountains, learn about architecture the Caucusus, castles, urbex, hear throatsinging, ride a horse, go to techno parties, read books next to a window, be more awake.
This year, I'm on a massive world tour around the world beginning in Germany and ending in Malaysia, I hope to see many a couch surfer on the way!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I have heard its the best way to meet people from across the world and I want to see people, local music, culture and see local life. Hostels are fun and cheap, but meeting people from the country you are visiting is better!!
While this profile has been online since 2013, I have now done my first Couch Surf (March 2017) and I definitely 'get it' more. It reminds me of the cultural exchange I had studying abroad at Heidelberg.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Belle & Sebastian, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Parquet Courts, Boards of Canada, Kongar-ol Ondar, Sainkho Namtchylak, Mount Kimbie
Movies: Varied, but anything to do with the countries I'm visiting would be great.
12 Angry Men, Goodbye Lenin,
Books: Recently books by Owen Hatherly, Dave Eggers, George Orwell and others.
I have nearly completed Infinite Jest.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived in Germany for 6 months.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn more German. After April, I want to try and learn some basic Russian too as I will be visiting a few countries that speak it.
As I will be learning about Urban Planning soon, any countries to do with human geography, sustainable development, heritage, architecture, public engagement and anything to do with cities would help me. In the long run it may help me write a few essays!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook decent meals when prodded (see my mean Thai Tom Yum Soup or Red Curry etc).
I do speak English and can help you with your speaking if you would like.
When I have a flat again somewhere (probably Edinburgh) you would be more than welcome in that apartment/house/mansion.
