Overview
About Me
Hey my name is Tim. I just finished my degree in Social Studies. In my studies I focused on education and setting up businesses that do not strive to make a lot of commercial profit but social or environmental profit. (Not saying I wouldn't like to make some money with it but I do rather add something to the world than become rich). My first business I set up as school project was Taste of Culture, with this we connected local hosts (Cooks with a dining table at home) to travelers (like Couch Surfers). The goal was (just like CS i guess) to give a insight in local culture and cross culture interaction. It was a great experience and learned me that setting up businesses like this makes me happy and energy. Although sadly enough Taste of Culture doesn't exist anymore I know what I wanna do and strive for bringing people/cultures/stories together.
I live in Amsterdam with my Girlfriend Bo. We find each other in our interest in Social Studies (literally we met there), meeting people, creating parties (and by doing so bringing people together), adventures, traveling and just having a laugh.
Furthermore I love hanging out with friends in one of my local bars, where I also used to work. I've traveled to many countries in Europe, but also for six months to the USA (where my dad lives in Los Angeles), Sri Lanka (where I worked in an orphanage and decided I wanted to studie Social Studies) and eight months in Suriname for my internship (together with Bo).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to meet international people and love traveling. I've had my first contact with CS in Paramaribo, Surinam. A friend of us there was a CS host and through him met two amazing CS'ers. Immediately I was hooked, a websited that brings people together on a social basis instead of money based... (see why??)

I'm the worst reader when I'm in school but the last book I've read is The Hobbit from J.R.R. Tolkien. Movies I just check out whats in the top of popcorn time (bad I dont buy, I know sorry).
