ABOUT ME

My name is tim and I am a 23 year old student from the Netherlands. I currently study at the University of Wageningen which is in the East of the Netherlands close to the German border. I love to travel, meet new people and experience different cultures (especially foods). At the moment I am working on my Msc. Thesis for the next six months.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy which led me to join couchsurfing is the strong believe that you experience places around the world completely different when you are staying at a ''local'' compared to a hostel/hotel. Both experiences can be good or bad but I prefer staying with the local people who know the good spots to go and are proud to show this to you. The other way around I am proud of my own home city (Rotterdam) and also showed multiple international tourist/students around my hometown.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I unfortunately dont have the room to host any people. This might change in the near future. After graduating I am planning to travel around with a friend and we both really like the concept of couchsurfing and hope to meet a lot of great new people on our travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted a Hungarian friend and showed her around the Netherlands about a year ago. As a couchsurfer I do not have a lot of experience but I normally travel fairly light and stay at dorms. This will be different in my post-graduation travels if all goes according to plan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My personal highlight this year was during my travels in New Zealand. We did a one day hike called the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We were very lucky since we had amazing weather. This crossing takes you in between two mountains and is the decor of scenes of mordor and Mt. Doom from the lord of the rings movies.
