Why I’m on Couchsurfing

### Couchsurfing is a shadow of its former self!###
The transformation to a commercial startup was a bad decision.
BEING A COUCHSURFER MEANT SOMETHING. You were a part of pioneering movement, willing to show a general trust and positiv attidude towards strangers, letting them in your home or trusting them in an alien culture or country. It was a global movement with its own values, bridging cultural and country borders. It was the opportunity for tourist to submerge in a different culture and made it possible especially for non-western hosts to introduce their often overlooked home and culture to the world. At last couchsurfing made it possible to travel on a budget back when "shareconomics" wasn't a word. It made it possible to travel to nice places without participating in the awful "touristification" of that places. The Couch Surfing Community was its own world, and it was a great world.
Now bad experiences accumulate, group forums are spammed and a lot of men are seeking out single traveling girls and I get a lot of one-line requests for a couch for e.g. a conference or something . If you think likewise and also want to change that please refer in your request to my real name Tim. Let's work together to enhance the couchsurfing experience again!

Excellent, the people that hosted me were awesome and also all I hosted so far. I really enjoy to participate in such a tremendous great thing- however the early, uncommercial CS was much better- back then a real gamechanger

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit smoking after being an intense pro smoker advocat and smoked more than I breathed. Did kind of the same turn on eating meat.
