About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Rediscover lost passions while climbing/surfing/eating around Central America.

ABOUT ME

I've been reading a lot about human history lately, in particular about nations, political institutions, conditions for success, war, old school trade routes. I'm fascinated by how humans since the inception of time have been travellers. nomadic wanderers or merchant traders. it really gets me how chinese pottery had been found in nairobi earlier than the romans existed. and marco polo travelled from europe all the way to mongolia to witness a new great khan inauguration waaaay before couchsurfing or budget airlines or the internet. SO what motivates us now to travel, besides taking a weekend trip away from work or snapping a couple's luxury resort on IG? for me it's about the moments. I think of all the best moments i've had, and most of the time they involve people. it's kinda cool how i can look back at all these moments which add up to years and see how each point in time was a dot on a web of interconnected moments. some of them changed my direction in life and the people i met are the reference points. as long as I still believe this, i guess i'm gonna keep going AND HAVE A GOOD TIME TOO.

PHILOSOPHY

Collecting moments until you have a lifetime of memories

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had a great time on couchsurfing when travelling my early twenties. still the best way I can think of to slow the pace of travel down and see a place from different angles.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am an excellent surfer in the following ways:

I like to try.
I like to share.
I love adventure (time).

Now I live in Hong Kong. And I finally have a place where I can host.

MY FIRST COUCH SURFING EXPERIENCE:
Stayed with a girl who was one of the most adventurous people I'd met. Lived in an old primary school where there were tons of empty rooms, art, graffiti everywhere and we had some mad nights out together in Amsterdam.

Interests

To walk into a cafe/bar and ask the shopkeeper to offer me his personally recommended tasty treats. Maybe this is their family shop. Maybe that picture of a boy on the wall is him. Can I try a glass of what everyone is drinking here? Oh, it's the own-made sherry of this shop. Nice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trying to dub Ben back home on the bike we bought for 10 Euro and failing. Trying to buy another bike for 15 and failing hard. Sharing a smoke on the canal side with new friends from Estonia and Sweden. Staying in an old community hall or something in Amsterdam. Meeting students downstairs from my room in the new bar opened by Tommy's house mate/bar owner. Slurping fruit punch through a straw out the bowl with random arts students in a South London dorm. Missioning to Vegas on my own after friends bailed and having a stellar time with girls celebrating their 21st birthday in New York New York. Learning craps and then forgetting craps. Camping for free around America and living off Manna food that our employers gifted to us. Driving across America and back again with 3 lovely staff from my summer camp. Eating expired peas with hot sauce straight out the can. Taking 8 rides and 5 hours to hitchhike across Istanbul. Avoiding petrol bombs and tear gas below us from the Akropolis. Being stuck in Athens for 5 consecutive days of strikes and riots. Getting in the car with an Albanian man and being taken to a Russian brothel. Being held hostage by Albanian man while trying to flee in a taxi. Making 5 second decision to fly to Sofia. Making 2 hour decision to leave Bansko and surf Eastern Europe on my own.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Months of trying most of the food around Tin Hau means I can point you to the better ones so you can avoid the duds!
