I'm 23 years old. Many people have told me I'm a funny guy, which I think I am, but not all the time. The thing is that sometimes I can be very clumsy and I tend to forget a lot of things, but I also enjoy having a good laugh with someone. Back in Chile, I'm a senior student of Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I got an scholarship that allowed me to live 4 months studying at an U.S university in Iowa.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Living here has taught me that people are very open-minded and really caring about international people, that's the reason I think it's a good place to meet new awesome people. Also, this is my first time using this app.

Interests

Music: I participated 4 years in a choir where I learned how to sing, play the piano (basic) and guitar (basic too). In particular, I really enjoy classical music, but I'm also attracted to alternative rock and indie music.

Languages: currently, I only know English and Spanish. However, I'd really like to learn German and Danish, especially since it's my dream going to both places. I'm preparing myself to make this dream come true. I'm going to be a teacher so for me learning is something we must never forget, even if we get older.

Music: The Killers, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Foster The People, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Keane, Travis, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bob Marley, City and Colour, Queen, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Brandon Flowers, Tame Impala, Classical: Chopin, Debussy, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and a long list of music I listen sometimes. I also enjoy listening to Reggae and Latin Rock.

Books: not a big fan of books, but my favorites are Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Movies: also, not a big fan of movies, but I love Into the Wild and Across the Universe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Roadtrip around the Midwest during Spring Break. I visited Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, Omaha, Kansas, St. Louis, and Chicago. This trip really changed my life and I could reinforce the bonds I had with my Chilean best friend, and my Malaysian friend.

Teach, Learn, Share

"Happiness is only real when shared."

Those are the words that marked my life from the moment I watched Into the Wild. I'm an only child, I never considered sharing something as a unrealistic as happiness (that's what I thought at that time). However, as I was growing and learning about life, I realized how much truth this little sentence contains. Even if we're loners (how I considered myself before), we need somebody else to share, be happy, isn't that difficult? During my stay in Fayette, Iowa, I could apply this sentence to my life. I was able to share my happiness with a group of European and Asian friends; I have to say these were the best days of my life. Actually, it was very hard to leave, I cried rivers before leaving. I was taken away my happiness. At the end, I realized that I needed to remember that I also had friends in my country, but I didn't appreciate how much I loved them. Now, reading so many experiences in CS, I feel like I'm prepared to enjoy this new journey and share an ephemeral happy moment with anybody who is open to host me.
