ABOUT ME

Originally I'm from West Kazakhstan, Uralsk. Studied there. Worked and lived in Uralsk and Atyrau before I moved to Almaty in 2021. In Almaty I can share a studio apartment that I live in. I'm an easy going person, open to people of all walks of life.
I guess it's not just what we do professionally defines our personality, but it's still a very important characteristic of a person and might help understand someone better or at least become a good starter for a conversation, sort of an icebreaker.
Having said that I'll mention that I started my career as a technical translator in one of the petroleum industry projects in the west Kazakhstan after I graduated with a diploma in translation. I always worked with English and Russian languages only. It's been a few years into my career as a translator when I realised this is not something I would like to be doing going forward, so I looked into some options to get a postgraduate degree in economics, something that always ran in my family - everyone was an economist there but me.
Once I got that postgraduate degree in economics I changed my career path completely and moved to working in supply chain organisations in petroleum industry as well.
Just like it happened in many people's lives COVID coupled with remote work changed my views on many aspects of my life, so I made up my mind to see if I can live a minimalistic way of life away from career and money driven mentally of a corporative worker. So, this is where I am at the moment, trying to fit in this new kind of mindset, struggling to make both ends meet sometimes but still enjoying it mostly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a kind of person, that like meeting new people, introducing them to my world to the reasonable limits of course )) and getting to know them better.
The whole idea lying behind the concept of Couchsurfing strongly influenced me several years ago. Before I realized CS exists I was actually thinking myself on how easy it is to make this idea come true, wandering at the same time why no one had worked it out yet. I intuitively perceived that this pattern of social interaction should exist already as it's something natural for most people to share and accept.
