About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See, Feel. Experience the world and give back as much as I can from me, myself and I

ABOUT ME

It is always difficult to describe oneself and it is even harder if you want to convince somebody with whom you want to travel or being hosted of
or that you're the right host for somebody.
I'd describe myself as a traveling (obviously) person who is interested in different peoples and cultures and persons.
Open to share experiences with other people and being inspired by them. So I am open minded, funny, well mostly sarcastic (so if you cannot deal with sarcasm or irony or have problems understanding it, we might have a problem ;) ) but I am also laid back, relaxed, so I maybe can cut back on the sarcasm. I am down to earth, I think it is possible to have a great time with me. (well, who knows!^^)
Someone once said to me: 'It is kind of amazing, when something bad happens to you or something failed or something did not quite work out as it was supposed to be, you always just give a shrug, start smiling and say 'Well, let's try something else' or some positive else'
I think that happens most of the times, so I always try to make the best out of a situation even if it seems crappy the first place.
But it is way easier to picture me by yourself and find out who I am and who I am not or just read the references ;) or ask friends of mine or whatever^^

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe Diem.

Disfruta la vida!

Today is the first Day of the Rest of your Life

Cry and you cry alone, smile and the whole world smiles at you.

A grain of sand or a rock, both perish in the water.

To walk is to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My participation is growing and growing!
Discoverd CS during my trip through the US and made some really good experiences and had a great time with my hosts there (2010) and then back in Germany, studying in Freiburg, I wanted to 'repay' and give something back, so hosted several people at my apartment.
Now I live in the amazing city of Barcelona, not yet sure if hosting is also possible here, we'll see^^

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just stayed at friends and friends of friends whom I never had seen before, so I had my own kind of private couchsurfing experience - this is still something I do quite often - even I don't know the people they surf at my place or I surf theirs.
But I was also able to surf 4 couches so far and it was a great time and experience.
Surfed 4 Couches with Couchsurfing, several others friends of friends couches and met while surfing and getting hosted incredible people.
Hosted several times in Freiburg and just recently also in Barcelona

Interests

I'm interested in several things:
like riding my motorbike and feeling the freedom, biking (bicycle - as "Freiburger") through the nature as well as hiking through the woods and mountains and getting to know over and over that you are just a tiny little something in the universe and for sure traveling to see at least some of the universe and discover how this planet with its several shapes and colors appears and how lovely and wonderful places there are all over. (Especially Eleuthera - Bahamas)
I do love cooking.
No special kind of movie or music.
I do like almost everything what is supposed to be good ;)
If something sounds interesting then I have to try it, so the limits of my Interests are almost infinite.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right Now:
The Great Gatsby
Django Unchained
Brothers Bloom

recently discovered La Pegatina
The Brew
Manu Chao
Chet Faker
Macklemore
Soundtrack Crazy Heart
Soundtrack Californication Season 1,2,3,4
and travel music - > feel-good music

Simon Beckett - The Chemistry of Death (it is quite exciting while sitting 40h in a train;)
Dieter Nuhr - Gibt es Intelligentes Leben (while traveling around and searching for something by yourself, you can entertain yourself with this piece of work)
Nick Hornby - The long way down

Alltime favorites:
Any kind of Actionmovie, Godfathermovie, Comedy, almost every 'good' movie ;) no special Genre even if I named some at the top.
Easier to name some directors:
Q. Tarantino, T. Burton,C. Nolan, S. Kubrick, F.F.Coppola, B. Levinson, R. Rodriguez, A.G.Inarritu, E. & J. Coen, W. Allen
and I definitely forgot many many many but I do love movies (collection of more than 300)
you can't name all of them!
And I do love TV-Shows like:
Archer, Big Bang Theory, Breaking Bad, Burn Notice, Californication, Dexter, Dr. House, Family Guy, Hell on Wheels, How I met your Mother, Louie CK, Key & Peele, Mad Men, Parks and Recs, Portlandia, Scrubs, Sons of Anarchy, Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

Rockmusic is the music I prefer but I also listen to several kinds of music (as long as it is good)
alternative, reggae, irish folk..ahh! TOO much to name!
But I DO love the Scrubs (Zach Braff - who is part-responsible for the Soundtrack - has a very decent taste of music) and Californication Soundtracks.
Arctic Monkeys, Buckcherry, Chuck Berry, Foo Fighters, RHCP, Nickelback, Muse, White Stripes, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, Ryan Bingham, Jack Johnson, Paolo Nutini, Die Ärzte, Nirvana, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Chickenfoot, Simon and Garfunkel, The Brew, Manu Chao -
there are too many good bands and artists to name them all!
But I'd never deny a glass of good old single malt whiskey and an audition of blues.

Any kind of Thriller and Action book for entertaining myself and not thinking that much. Or traveling books which let your wanderlust fly.
Also read Schopenhauer and Kafka.
Same like with the movies and music no several kind.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can share a good old fashioned Clam-Chowder with you.
(Learnd to love it in Seattle and love eating and preparing it now)
Also can give you a ride on my motorbike and show you Swiss, France and Germany all within a couple of hours, well at least a bit of these countries^^ (well this only when I am back in Germany)
Teach you German
