To travel as far, wide and long as possible, meeting as many like minded people as we can along the way.

ABOUT ME

We are a married couple in our late thirties who both worked at a senior level within the finance industry for a number of years.

We met at work and both worked for the same employer but unfortunately due to the global rescission our employer was forced to make a large number of staff redundancies and both of us found ourselves without a job at the same time.

We decided to turn what could have been a very negative situation in to a positive and we took the possible crazy decision to sell our belongings, purchase backpacks, and set off to discover the world.
We spent 5 years travelling the world, returned home for 1.5 years and now it’s time to put our backpacks on and hit the road again.

We are both non smokers, hold clean driving licences, love animals of all shapes,size, fur or feathers and enjoy new challenges and experiences.

Our purpose for couch surfing is to immerse ourselves into the local communities and also to provide a base for exploring the surrounding areas. We enjoy the travelling lifestyle but being in our late 30's we also enjoy home comforts so feel that couch surfing is the perfect balance of comfort and exploration

We have both owned properties individually and also as a married couple so we both understand what is required in order to keep a property clean and tidy.

Through our previous house sitting and Helpx experiences we have become proficient gardeners and pool carers so would be very happy to use these skills if necessary.

PHILOSOPHY

We are incredibly happy people, we are living the dream and love every minute of every day. When things go wrong we know it is part of the journey and we pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off and carry on with smiles on our faces.
We love to share our travel stories and can guarantee that we can give you a laugh or two at our expense.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are looking for a base to stay to meet people, learn more about your area, steal tips about the best places to visit and to share our tales of two years on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are new to Couch Surfing, but along our travels we have undertaken house sitting roles, volunteer roles and many helpx roles where we have lived with locals helping around the house and garden and with pets in exchange for a room.

Interessen

We love travel (obviously), the more off the beaten track we can get the better, although it is easier said than done these days.

We are film addicts constantly watching old classics and moaning when new Hollywood blockbusters are not as good.

We are animal lovers, our experience volunteering on a Turtle project has turned us into full blown conservationist. We love to see animals but will go to great lengths to see them in their natural environment.
We love to dive and snorkel as the oceans are just the most special place to see some amazing creatures.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I don't know where to start with this catagory, we love movies, we love music and we love books.

The one part of our old life that we miss is the ability to go to music festivals as we love live music of all sorts and love to find new and emerging artists.

If we had to pick one book that has changed us it would be The Alchemist - We live our life by the moral of this story, if you are open minded read it, it is a very special book.

We love reading biographies and autobiographies, not so keen on fiction, although the odd chick flick will find it's way onto our kindles now and again!

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Where do we start, everyday we see of do something which many people only dream of. The two highlights of our travels so far are:
We lived for a month in a tent on a beach in Borneo protecting and monitoring the turtle population. Everyday we would snorkel with around 100 giant green turtles and at night we would walk the beach to find nesting turtles and we would catch her eggs as she laid them and planted them in a safe hatchery.

We spent 9 days being driven through the Gobi desert in Mongolia living with nomads. The sky at night was the most magical thing we have ever seen, no light pollution and shooting stars and comets aplenty. Which made up for the hole in the desert floor that was called a toilet and the bed which was actually a table with a piece of carpet as a mattress.

We have traveled pretty far and wide, through Europe, Russia, Mongolia, China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malayisa, Borneo, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, South America, Europe.

We love to share the places we have been, the routes that we have taken, the memories that we have made and the tips we have picked up along the way.

Nothing makes us more happy than to help someone else with their journey.
