About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Adventure! And to keep seeing more and more of the world! It's been too long since I've left the United States so my upcoming trip (October 2015) includes Ireland, Scotland, and Poland.

ABOUT ME

I'm an active person. I love the outdoors and all the activities that come with it: hiking, snow-boarding, kayaking, camping, biking, etc.

Some of my favorite trips have been to Jamaica, Scotland, Germany, and a 6-month motorcycle trip (on my Harley-Davidson Sportster) across the United States.

I'm also a total nerd/geek. I love sci-fi, video games, board games, and card games. I'm always up for learning a new game.

I enjoy exploring cities and seeing what sort of things there are to do: restaurants, museums, comedy clubs, theaters, generic touristy things, etc.

Personally, I'd say I'm an "extroverted introvert", but once I get comfortable I'm pretty outgoing. Also, I very much enjoy humor and I'm always looking for an opportunity to crack a joke. I'm laid-back / easy-going; I'm easy to get along with as I rarely find people I can't at least have a drink with.

PHILOSOPHY

At this point in my life I realize that I've been coasting along a little too much. It's been too long since I last left the States, so I'm looking forward to booking more trips.

I'd rather say 'Yes!' and learn that I don't like something than say 'No' and wonder what it would have been like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When looking back on my past travels I've realized that the times I've enjoyed the most have been when I've been traveling with a friend. Unfortunately, that can't always be arranged. So instead I've decided to make a stronger effort to make friends at the places I'm traveling to. We'll see how well it goes. :)

Interests

Outdoor adventures: hiking, horseback riding, kayaking. Anything that involves the wind, water, or sun.

Relaxing: Know a good pub? Great! Let's grab a table and a enjoy a drink.

Site-seeing: I figure there's a reason tourist attractions become attractions; there might be something to see!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
======

I love movies! Here's a SMALL list of some of my favorites: Bourne Trilogy, Princess Bride, Shawshank Redemption, Catch Me If You Can, Hunt for Red October, Ronin, Dogma, Heat. (And trust me, I could keep going on and on with this list).

Music:
=====

I'm a bit all over the place. One end of the spectrum is heavy metal (Fear Factory, Pantera). In the middle you've got the dance/trance/techo stuff (Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, DJ Tiesto). And the other end is more mellow stuff (Delerium, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps). Though I'll totally admit that Pandora has me hooked on: MIA, MGMT, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Regina Spektor, Kate Nash, Jem, Goldfrapp.

Books:
=====
I'm mostly into science fiction, but when I look back to consider all the books I've read it's pretty eclectic. The reason being is that what I like to do is ask people what their favorite book is, and then I go check it out.

Some of my favorites are: The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov, Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe, Starship Troopers & The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, Neuromancer by William Gibson, 1984 by George Orwell, World War Z by Max Brooks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming with dolphins. I gotta say that's probably the number one thing I've done. But really, that whole trip to Jamaica was just incredible.

But then there's also simpler stuff like all the hiking I've done in New Hampshire; spectacular views shared with amazing friends.

On my motorcycle trip across the US I've seen Manatees in Florida, hiked the dunes in the white sands desert in New Mexico, hiked down into the Grand Canyon, and road my bike up Route 1 along Big Sur.
