About Me

Makin' my way downtown, walkin' fast, -...wait, that's Vanessa Carlton.

I'm a habitual traveller! Although I don't do what I used to in terms of backpacking (did 9 months around the world, it was amazing), I love the culture still. Meeting new people from different walks of life is great, and my experiences with couchsurfing have ranged from 'pretty good' to 'overwhelmingly amazing.'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I've only been hosted by others, and it has been such a great experience. I do my best to contribute whatever I can to help - if it's preparing a meal, tidying up, making music, sharing stories, ...whatever the case is, I'm pretty easy to please! I'm really looking forward to getting back home and hopefully being able to host some surfers coming around my area!

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock, jazz, folk rock type stuff, acoustic fingerstyle, basically any type of movie, and mostly fiction for reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For 2014, I left everything at home (well, I took clothes and a few other important bits), and decided to travel around the world for 9 months.

Years ago, I saved somebody's life using the shirt I was wearing to tie a tourniquet, that's another big thing.

Scuba diving in Thailand blew my mind.

I've tried a LOT of strange food, and I'm always ready to try more. Feel free to ask!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach and talk music, I like to cook, and I feel like I've got lots of good stories to tell. I also like to help out however I can. Sharing travel experiences is always fun, and hearing other people's stories is always enriching.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always happy to prepare a meal. I feel like it's a great way of saying thanks, it celebrates cultures, it starts conversations, and if I cook it right, it won't kill you!
