About Me

HELLO THERE :)

I'm Timo and I'm from Germany.
Greetings, my new friend :D

After finishing school in 2015 and working a year or so I did a huge roadtrip. Starting off with trips to Norway and Hawaii, I bought a car with a friend in San Franciso and travelled the USA and Canada. It’s been a hell of an experience and I still have flashbacks from experiences, stuff I’ve done, places I’ve seen or people I’ve met during that time. If you ever get the opportunity to do something like this, DO IT! Don‘t hesitate. Experiences like those are priceless.

I like to think of myself as a polite and open–minded (I‘m not saying I am) person who loves learning about anything and everything. Also I like sarcasm.

On my roadtrip through the USA and Canada I enjoyed taking photographs, you can check out some of my pics if you like :) www.instagram.com/germanwonderer

Coming back from the states I started going to university. I am currently doing my bachelor‘s degrees of Astronomy and Physics in Vienna. I am not really sure about what to do next, as I’m interested in so many different things... maybe a master’s degree in environmental physics, or biophysics, or medical physics, or astrophysics, or maybe another bachelor’s degree in geophysics, or maybe even a bachelor of education in physics and maths, who knows? :)

IF I HAD TO DESCRIBE MYSELF best in three statements: I care, I think and I want to learn.

„A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.“
“When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
“Kindness begins with understanding we all struggle.”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't like traveling as a tourist, I would like to meet locals and feel the city and not just see it... :D

Music, Movies, and Books

I prefer Books over Pizza.

I read a lot. My favourite books are currently: „The history of bees“ and „Blue“ by Maja Lunde, „Glass Castle“ by Jeannette Walls and a Sci–Fi Trilogy called „Genesis“ by Thariot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

• spending 7 months in England going to an English basketball college at the age of 14

• Planning a 6–month roadtrip of 45.000 kilometers by car while not yet having started driving lessons. Some would call that foolish, others may call it reckless. I‘d call it brainless. And I would totally do it again.

• 6–month roadtrip through: California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, Alaska, Sakatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Pensylvania, New York

• Dancing under the Northern Lights in Lapland

• Hiking during the Midnight Sun in Yukon

• Eating fresh Alaskan salmon, that was caught by a friend in Juneau, for breakfast

• Doing an overnight–hike in a grizzly bear area

• most important of all: realizing how blessed I am. Unfortunately I do that far too seldom.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

• some astronomy or science talk
• philosophical conversations about ethics, science, religion, life, whatever you wish I’m up for it
