About Me

Hi, I have been out of CS for a bit, but I am back again! So don't mind the last reference being dated April 2016 :) Oh, crap, my response rate is at just 63%, that's a shame :)

As of now I am an Software Engineer in Prodrive Technologies in Eindhoven. I moved here a while ago for my studies without any idea what awaits me and what will happen in the future. So, yeah, I am that type of person that can go for everything :)

I rarely find it a problem to get on well with someone, I am open to any topic and can discuss almost anything for hours. I am rather energetic and friendly guy, whose desire is to travel the world and whose motto is "enjoy simple things".

I am not exactly the partying type of person though, sometimes I act as an extrovert, sometimes opposite. Ordinary get-toghethers with my friends end up as a pretty talkative evening at someone's place. I think, meet ups when people are more concered with actually sharing their thoughts, feelings and news are cooler than the ones when everything is about dancing and drinking) Don't get me wrong though, from time to time I can enjoy a loud party with dances and some booze :D

As a traveler I am independent in most of the times, as usually I stay in hotels and nobody hosts me and guides me through the city. I go out in the morning and come back in the evening full of emotions and funny stories to share. When I walk around the city I care not only about seeing the main attractions, but also checking out some details that other miss, which actually create the city's atmosphere the most. Nevertheless, as someone once said "The best tourist guide is the one who loves his city", so I won't ever mind a company of a host in my trip and certainly would have a good time :)

In my home country I have a dog and a cat, some fish and a hamster; I adore those creatures, so pets are no problem for me, I tend to get along with them pretty easily. I am okay with alcohol, and won't mind to grab a drink in the evening. I don't smoke and prefer non-smokers, though.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, in my opinion the couchsurfing is about two things: making friends and saving money. Both of which are extremely awesome and attractive :)

Whenever I am a host or a couchsurfer I have an opportunity to meet new people from all over the Earth, and that means new personal stories and new experiences shared! As I found out in just two last years getting to know about different cultures, traditions and modes of life is one of the most fun and enjoyable activities one can have. Couchsurfing brings people from anywhere closer together; now traveler may learn about the city not only from outside (museums, monuments, parks), but from the inside from stories of its inhabitants. This is what gives people memories for the rest of their lives, I think!)

So, considering all this, who would not want to be part of such community? :D

Interests

I am a Software Engineer who studied Electrical Engineering, so I believe it won't be a surprise that I am interested in new tech and gadgets :D That is not the only thing I am interested though, I also like travelling(duh) and photography.
I also like video games. I own a PlayStation and know and played many games on it.
I am into history, I tend to look for fascinating historical facts, persons and events. During my trips I usually study the city, its history and history of its monuments and known places.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow, it's almost impossible to gather all my music, books and movie preferences together, but I'll try.

I don't have a particular taste in music, it completely depends on my mood I'd say. I prefer mostly rock (indie-rock, pop-rock, alternative) compositions, such bands as Three Days Grace, Skillet, Shinedown, Hollywood Undead, Imagine Dragons etc. But at the same time I love such musicians as Adele, John Newman, Sam Smith and Hozier. Sometimes you can find in my playlist some party hits from groups like LMFAO. So almost no constraints here :)

If we talk about the movies the situation here is almost the same. I tend to think that there can be a good movie in any genre, thus I don't have preferences to something specific. Once I'd rather watch a comedy than drama, anothertime I would be thirsty for a good thriller. In other words, if the movie is good, why not enjoy it! And don't let me forget to mention all the TV shows I watch(ed): True Detective, Supernatural, TBBT, New Girl, House, Friends, HIMYM. Game of Thrones fan as well. Walking Dead is to be seen though. YET.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess up til this point I really loved the three week trip around Italy (Rome - Siena - La Spezia - Cinque Terre - Pisa - Genoa - Milan - Venice) I took in the summer of 2016. I also couchsurfed during it a bit! I am planning on doing something similar as soon as possible :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Since the time I left Russia I met tons of people from all over the globe (Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa) and the knowledge and experience they shared with me was one of a kind. Yeah, sure I found bunch of stereotypes here and there, but it was nice not only to destroy their misbeliefs, but to remove my assumptions as well.
I think of CS as a great way to gain friends, learn about other cultures and lifestyles. People that I already met through CS told me about their lives, their countries and experiences, what was not only quite informative, but also very interesting. Moreover, I had an opportunity to tell people my story.
