About Me

I am 29 year old white Arican winemaking professional, former international and college athlete, familiar with living abroad. I am a very neat person (went to boarding school), and am happy to help around the house when I have time. I enjoy the outdoors immensly, as well as sports and good conversation. I am a Christian, and I am curious about all faiths. My current goal is to learn to make really good wine, and to start an experimental vineyard in my home country.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like to connect with people, and have had a few opportunities to travel. It has always been with purpose that I have done so, and at some point I would like to travel just for the sake of it.

I went to high school abroad with the intention of training as an athlete at a higher level, I did the same for university in pursuit of the Olympics. More recently I have traveled in pursuit of harvest experience at different wineries, and that is the reason I live where I do now (can't change my profile somehow, to the UK).

I grew up in a beautiful country and miss it terribly, so defintely intend to go back there, and to all the places I have been before as well as places I have never visited.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy classic rock and blues, particularly Dire Straits and Eric Clapton, as well as Irish folk songs, and a bit of Jack Johnson among other types of music. I love the Pirates of the Carribean, Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit (both movies and books). I also enjoyed an English translation of Les Miserables (text), as well as A Year in Provence and A Good Year (film and text).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I attended the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games as an Olympic Youth Camper. It was like a summer camp to end all summer camps. I watched the opning ceremony live, and multiple games, meeting and befriending young people from around the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people about the beauty of my home country Zimbabwe, and what I have learned growing up as a minority citizen in an impoverished state - it's more than one person's fault and we all have a chance to fix it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I spent 20 years as a competitive swimmer, and met a great variety of people in the world. I can share my faith and connect with people on many different socioeconomic levels.
