About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sit quietly you Happy Lucky Idiot

ABOUT ME

I bought a one way ticket and moved to Phnom Penh a few days after I graduated back in 2007. I have spent the past seven years working with a variety of international development organizations, impact investment funds, and social businesses in Southeast Asia. I've lived and worked in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Rwanda, Myanmar and Afghanistan. I am particularly passionate about PEPY Tours, Hagar International, and Joma International, three organizations/social businesses with which I had the privilege to work.

When not working in the social business field or studying, I can often be found with a cup of coffee and map scouting out a new cycling/kayaking/hiking adventure. I've written at length about some of these trips on my blog: http://responsiblenomad.wordpress.com . Feel free to send an email if you are planning a trip anywhere in SE Asia. I have lots of great contacts for tour guides (especially for cycling), hotels, etc.

My wife and I recently relocated to Jakarta - we'll be here for at least the next two years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a bunch of times in Phnom Penh and Hanoi, and have met with dozens of surfers. Unfortunately we're unable to host at this time, but always eager to share a meal or drink. I have extensive travel experience in mainland SE Asia - very happy to help people plan trips and connect with other CS'ers, hotels, travel agents, fun people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tons - come see my bookshelf for yourself. Right now I am really into Tom Robbins and Joanna Macy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Crossed one of the most remote jungles in Asia by bicycle - simply stunning - http://responsiblenomad.wordpress.com/2011/08/14/cycling-across-the-cardamom-mountain-range-in-cambodia-day-1/

Wrapped up a trip right before my departure in Cambodia from Central Vietnam to Phnom Penh via the "Death Highway" along the VN border - http://responsiblenomad.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/cycling-the-death-highway-ratanakiri-to-mondulkiri-in-cambodia/
