Overview
About Me
I was a couchsurfer way back in the beginning and hosted many many people from around the world. My hosting profile was full and my surfing experiences were few. When the surfing climate changed and policies were introduced which I disagreed with, I emptied my profile and left. Today it feels a very different place than it was but I am hoping to find some of the same values and trust in my travels as I did before.
Travel did not really exist when I was young so now I am enjoying the freedom of retirement I have time to explore new places and have recently bought a campervan. Autumn 2022 and I’m heading to Europe for 3 months so unable to host.
I feel very connected to the land and wilderness areas whether that is through growing my own food, walking or swimming outdoors.
I am vegetarian but can be flexible about this. I live simply, enjoy reading novels set in places I have visited or might visit and enjoy creating beautiful cloth from pieces that are thrown away by others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Now it is time for me to rejoin CS. I still have friends that I made during my earlier time here and am planning imminent travel to meet up with some who I hosted many years ago. I hope I will make new CS friends too.
If I am home, I welcome independent travellers who are interested in me and the area I live in, who read my profile and make personalised requests, not just those who want a free bed for the night. Surfing was never just about that.
