i have backpacked through 29 countries and met tons of good people along the way. i enjoy spending my time outdoors. snowshoeing, back-country hiking and camping, gardening, canoeing, and cycling are favourites. i love all things wildlife and food. my yoga practice is a big part of my life.

i try to live sustainably, using sound environmental practices in everyday life and work. also try to reconcile my guilt from all this air travel i seem to be doing...

i laugh a lot. i love to ride my bike, lie in savasana, and eat.

i like birds.
i think big dumps of snow are awesome.
and i know the difference between your and you're.

PHILOSOPHY

1. free the feet and the mind will follow.

2. be true to your teeth or they'll be false to you. haha

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

favourite books are ones that teach me about myself or the world. e.g., A Short History of Nearly Everything (bill bryson), The Omnivore's Dilemma (michael pollan), The Grapes of Wrath (john steinbeck), Look Me in the Eye (john elder robison), Catch 22 (joseph heller), and Kon-Tiki (thor heyerdahl).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

walking to my remote bird research site every morning in the belizean rainforest on the ruins of a 2000-yr old limestone road constructed by the mayans.

Teach, Learn, Share

i catch songbirds and band/ring them with small aluminum rings for individual identification. i like teaching people how to do that.
