While I've traveled much, I actually only heard about couch-surfing from travelers recently when I expressed my desire to spend more time with locals, and getting to understand things from their perspective and hear their stories. The cross-cultural exchange is what I enjoy most. I also find homes to be a great place to relax, especially over meals.
