About Me

CURRENT MISSION

You're new. I'm different.

ABOUT ME

I wrote this in 2006. I feel like it's still pretty accurate:

I know exactly what would be best for me, and choose to ignore it for what will make my life more interesting. Which is a lie. I have no idea what I should be doing, and I'm not sure that anyone else does either. I have way too low a tolerance for ignorance, although I'd like to think of myself as an open person. I'm fairly contradictory. I'm a huge fan of doing nothing. With someone. I live for surprises. Portland, Maine is pretty much the elephant's elbows. I feel random most of the time. I'm consistantly inconsistant, and I never really feel satisfied with anything that I have, especially considering how much I have. I like individuals, but am uncomfortable in large groups even though I constantly surround myself with people. I want to feel like I never really have to grow up, but that it's ok to be an adult sometimes. I love wonder and secrets, and not knowing where I'm going. I'm apt to disappear for a few days for no real reason. I talk too much when I'm nervous. I'm always nervous when I meet someone for the first time. I play in the rain. I photograph, because there are pictures in my head that I want to share with the world. I hate to be asked if I'm alright, because what if the answer is no? I want to die knowing I didn't leave anything out.

PHILOSOPHY

He who laughs at himself will never cease to be amused.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm without an actual couch, but I'm got plenty of floor space and I've always been a very accommodating and welcoming person wanting to do what I can to help out the people who might do the same for me some day.

Interests

Talking, reading, bowling, late night adventures, spontaneity, comfortable silences.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I tend to be struck by moments that aren't necessarily for sharing, because how can you really tell someone about why you were suddenly full of everything but air to breathe? Plus, I hear the more you remember something, the less accurately you remember it. Like memory erosion, a little bit at a time with each handling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make a mean bowl of guacamole, how to improve your form in weightlifting, where you can go to climb rocks, and how to properly use fifty-cent words like 'posthumous'.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, South Korea

Countries I’ve Lived In
