Über mich

Hi there!

I originally hail from Toronto, Canada (aka The 6) and now live in San Francisco, California. I love traveling and getting to know people, and am excited to meet people through couchsurfing!

I'm equal parts sunny, upbeat and social, as I am cerebral and self-reflective. I love meaningful conversations with people, so if you would like to tell me about you or where you're from, you will have my complete attention. In terms of hosting, I love city exploring whether it's a guided walking tour, checking out hidden dive bars or food spots, so I will have plenty of suggestions.

I enjoy sunny days, road trips, dancey nights out, cozy nights in, reading, baking, cooking a meal with/for someone, learning something new, playing board games, trying (unsuccessfully) to play the guitar, and making people laugh - or maybe getting some weird looks at my awkward humor.

I care about social/racial/gender equity, politics, and LOVE spending time outdoors.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

To meet new people and share in adventure-making. :)

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Shows: Silicon Valley, GoT, Bob's Burgers, BroadCity, The John Oliver Show, It's Always Sunny.

Old-school shows that will always be in my good books: Star Trek (TNG & Voyager), Battlestar Galactica, Sex and the City, Seinfeld, Frasier, the Simpsons (old seasons, not the new stuff), West Wing.

Novels mostly: Barney's Version, We Need to Talk About Kevin, To Kill a Mocking Bird, 1984, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Sun Also Rises, A Clockwork Orange, LoTR, Americanah.

Lately I find I half-read some non-fiction too: Team of Rivals, Between the World and Me, Quiet, Lean In, Thinking Fast and Slow, David and Goliath, The Everything Store.

If there is a book that was on the bestseller's list between 5-15 years ago, chances are I'm reading it now.

Movies: The Godfather (I and II), Under the Tuscan Sun, About a Boy, Bridget Jone's Diary, not-too-gory zombie movies, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, most films with Leonardo DiCaprio post-Titantic (e.g., Gangs of New York, The Departed, etc.), Fargo, Eastern Promises, House of Sand and Fog, Good Will Hunting, Up.

Food: all kinds.

Music: mostly stuff my friends and songza share with me, including soft rock hits from the 80s, hip-hop from the 90s, upbeat and melancholic indie from the 00s and beyonce. Bey is the shit.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Wrote regular blog posts the first year of my move to San Francisco.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Hmm... how about instead I share some quotes that I try to weave into how I live my life:

“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”
- Annie Dillard

“If it is right, it happens — The main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away.”
- John Steinbeck

“Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.”
- Simone Weil
