About Me

CURRENT MISSION

La vie est dure sans confiture!

ABOUT ME
I've been living the last four years in Canada but now I'm back in my home Aachen and am going to school in Maastricht.

I am passionate about vegan cooking, coffee, photography, politics, sustainable living, being outdoors, and other simple joys in life (disc golf).

I like cats but dogs are cool too. I like most other animals as well which is why I don't eat them.

PHILOSOPHY

Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one.

It is the part of a wise man, I say, both to refresh and to recreate himself in moderation with sweet food and drink as also with scents and the amenity of green plants, with adornments, music, the exertion of games, theatre, and with other recreations of this sort such as anyone can do without any injury to others. - Baruch de Spinoza, Ethics

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've made many truly wonderful connections through couch surfing. I'm an old school couch surfer, not (just) looking for a place to stay, but to meet people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted and stayed with friends of friends of friends before I knew couchsurfing. The most wonderful experience was when I didn't make it to the hospital in Reykjavik and I ended up in someones living room instead, and I was introduced to Icelandic drinking and singing customs. Turns out one of the guys living there was even a doctor, so I didn't need to go to the hospital at all. That's the Idealtyp of couchsurfing!

Interests

weird music, alternative culture, vegan recipes, analogue photography, disc golf.

sustainability, cooperatives, local and seasonal food, gardening (don't know anything, but would like to learn)

I'm conscious about nature and environmental protection and love to spend time in the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Night on Earth

I like good TV shows (The Wire, Treme, The Thick of it, Boardwalk Empire, Blackadder, Black Books, QI,...)
I also tend to watch not so good TV shows (House, Dexter, Big Bang Theory,...)

Music: everything unusual, from singer/songwriter to balkan breakbeats, as long as it makes my ears tingle. I like to collect the weirdest music I can find at every place I visit.

Books: at the moment I don't really find the time to read much. I guess it will change again.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want, I share everything I know about cooking, photography, roasting coffee,...

And whatever it is you have to share, I'd love to learn, the more obscure the better! I need to know!

Also, I'd be happy to share a glass of wine.
