About Me

ABOUT ME

** After several years of being unable to surf/host me and my partner have finally broken free from the daily 9-5 in dreary Washington state to start a new adventure in Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand. We don't know where this journey will take us but we do know that we want to meet and get to know as many local people as possible. We would LOVE to stay with you, hear about what your life is like, and share meals together. Although it has been a long time since I've surfed, my positive speak to my personality. Rest assured my partner Patrick is even more mellow than I am and will soon have his very own profile. **

I take joy in little things. I love people of all types. I think variety is the spice of life and there is nothing I enjoy more than learning from people different from myself.

I am a go with the flow kind of person. I don't have much when it comes to material things like money and belongings but I'm rich in experiences and I like it that way.

I enjoy good beer, good conversation and spontaneity. I love language and love to learn new words and expressions, especially slang!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed.. A LOT. I haven't really been stationary since I started my travels so I have unfortunately not really been able to host....yet.

I've put together a couple gatherings and attended many.

Interests

I'm interested in just about anything NEW. I'm interested in humans and our unique experiences that make us so different but also so similar. I love to hear life stories, learn languages.

I have a passion for language, beer and new foods. By profession I am social worker at a shelter for women who are fleeing violent relationships or sex trafficking, so I am deeply passionate about human rights.

Music, Movies, and Books

All of these things have seriously been neglected over the last couple non stationary years. Recommendations are welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting rid of everything I owned except for what fit in a backpack. Quitting a job that I love in pursuit of the freedom to control my own time and energy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn anything I didn't know today. I would like to learn Spanish..again. I want to learn everything about Thai culture and language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you some Haitian Creole, I can make an excellent grilled cheese sandwich, Patrick can tell you all about botany and medicinal mushrooms (he was a mushroom farmer for several years). We can even teach you how to grow you own or help you set up your own mushroom garden.

On a serious note, if you've experienced trauma (like a violent partner or sexual assault) I can be available to listen and provide feedback, I am not a licensed counselor but I worked in the field for several years.

Countries I’ve Visited
