Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Figuring out which path to take... As Thoreau said -"It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?"

I want:
to broaden my mind
to be challenged by different ideas
to be amazed by the beauty of nature, architecture and people...

ABOUT ME

I am a simple person who has an inquisitive mind and loves learning about the world through conversations, books, art and exploring new places or rediscovering the familiar ones.

PHILOSOPHY

"Stay hungry, stay foolish"
Tartuffe by Moliere
to always stay hungry for life, experiences and love;
to be foolish that every new experience, every person would teach something new and unknown;
to embrace a new day with fresh joy and excitement.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Travelling and meeting other couchsurfers.
Crashing on friendly couches.
Showing Lithuania or whatever place I am at.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So so so good! Met a few but truly inspiring people. THANK YOU! I admire this community for its adventurous spirit, openness, and desire to share and experience other cultures!

Couchsurfing allows meeting exceptional personalities from various walks in life that otherwise would rather be difficult - to meet friends whom you have never known. Interessen

Ideas about society, lifestyle and living.

Arts. Especially visual arts.

People. Engaging in thoughtful conversations.

Sea. It is such a different world! I love plainly sitting in front of the unending water basin - looking and wandering before starting to shiver (the sea is always accompanied by the wind) . You can never see the other shore!

Reading. Books that spur imagination. Books that raise questions. Books that remind and inform.

Recently read: "The Call" by Os Guinness.

Other great books: "Watching the English" by Kate Fox, "Laiminga Mirtis" by Albero Camus; "The Stories of English" by David Crystal, "Half the Sky"

Drawing. Ink and watercolours. Check out my blog http://aure-lija.blogspot.com/

Nature. Always leads to internal peace and joy.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

While in uni - tandem biked to the ocean with an awesome friend! It was a day just like in a movie. The weather was fantastic - sunny and a little bit chilly, as happens to be in the spring. We were riding through a little quaint town - Beverly Farms. On the way, we passed beautiful wooden 'American dream' houses and blossoming cherry trees.

When I was 14, I went to an international jamboree in Denmark and we did a 40 km cycling and 20 km walking hike in one day. I know that people go on much longer hikes but I still regard it as an awesome accomplishment.

In the evening of March 2014, I was flying out of JFK. The view was stunning. I will never forget how the bright city lights revealed the magnitude of the buzzing city.

For my 24th birthday, I organised a poetry evening in my house. The house I was renting did not have the heat yet, so we were all wrapped up in blankets with woollen socks and tea mugs in our hands enjoying great conversations.

These are just a couple of numerous amazingness that happened throughout my quarter of the century life:) Let's meet and I will tell you more!

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can share with you about Lithuanian history, or how the currency board works...or tips on how to lead tours or tips on how to paint with watercolours.

I would love to learn some secrets of cooking. I am a bad cook, but I want to improve!
Also arts! I am always interested in visual arts:))

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

As I said above, I am not a great cook, but I can make traditional Lithuanian pancakes - grated potatoes, some curd, an egg, an onion and voilà:)

I could also teach you how to paint with watercolors. My painting professor used to say that it is the hardest paint to master because there is no white color in the palette. If you overdo it - it becomes dodgy. I can share with you some secrets how not to make it dodgy;)
