Overview
About Me
I am Günter (Guenter or Gunter), 27 years young, and I am from Kufstein, a small historic town in the beautiful Alps in Austria 🇦🇹
After completing my apprenticeship in the high-end restaurant and hotel industry, I went to Finland to gain my first experience abroad. I was particularly enthusiastic about Scandinavian, especially Finnish, cuisine. After my Finland stay, my interest and passion for wine led me to complete various training courses in this area and also to work as a wine sommelier. However, I did this back home in Austria. The last few years I have been the manager of a gourmet lounge with high-priced food and drinks, especially wines from all over the world.
Now I travel the world with the Mclaren Formula 1 team, where I am head of the service team at the motorhome, which looks after the drivers, team bosses and shareholders. 🏎🌍
In my free time, I spend a lot of time in nature. At home, of course, we have the mountains on our doorstep, so I love hiking and in winter I love skiing. Swimming in the lakes is also great. I generally keep myself very fit and therefore also go to the gym regularly.
I am looking forward to meeting new great people & their culture.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing because I love meeting new people and maybe even making friends from all over the world. As I work in this industry and I'm always surrounded by new people, I think the idea behind Couchsurfing is great. I've always checked into hostels instead of hotels when I've traveled privately because I meet like-minded people there. In a hotel, you lock yourself in your private room and you hardly get to know anyone else. So far I've even met a friend for life through couchsurfing by visiting him in the USA. In the meantime, he has also visited me in Austria and I hope for more friendships like this in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-I supervise a donation association for aid projects in Bolivia and was there myself in 2019. It's just unbelievable to see how bad the conditions are there, but how hospitable the people are and, above all, how happy and content they are with the little they have. Above all, it was great to help them.
-In Finnish Lapland with no electricity & running water, no toilet, on his own with his best friend. An exciting experience.
-Mountain biking on one of the deadliest roads in the world, in Bolivia
-Experience the world's largest salt desert by day and night in Bolivia
-Hiking through the Colombian jungle
-many more...
