About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have fun, be happy, and share experiences!

ABOUT ME

I'm a happy, fun guy who enjoys playing host for friends as well as being the one hosted. I am very friendly and easy going. I grew up in the Chicago area and have lived there all of my life.

I moved to Qingdao, China, in August 2011 and am glad to be here.

*** I returned to live in the USA for the time being. I reside in Chicagoland (Illinois).

PHILOSOPHY

I love helping people and being a good friend and family member. Life can be hard, and I'd rather help make it easier.

I am an optimistic person who loves to share laughs and good times with others.

CURRENT LOCATION

I'm taking some time away from China, and I've returned to the Chicagoland area beginning in summer 2019.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

One thing I like to do in Qingdao is participate in English Corners. I love learning and sharing about new and different cultures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some wonderful people through CouchSurfing, and I look forward to more great times.

Interests

I like to eat in, spending time out to eat, watch movies, go bowling, play darts, play pool, go to shows, shop, and see new things. I find that most people are kind and great to talk with.

I like making new traditions with friends. For awhile, we made a habit to go to an outdoor concert and enjoy a relaxing picnic.

I also like visit museums, listen to bands/musicians, and relax in the outdoors. Plus, I like to sing and don't embarrass easily. It's fun to take risks, I think. I like to dance, too, although I haven't in some time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting the Great Wall, 5 days in Madrid, getting lost and found again, plus one meeting where we translated from English to Chinese to Korean and back again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm learning that no matter the differences, people are generally the same. Needs/wants/emotions are all the same across this great world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I tell you, I certainly have some stories to share -- particularly of teaching for several years in a private school in China. I was also a teacher in the Chicago area for several years, too.

I'm a very easy-going person, and I'm eager to go with the flow and help out as much as I can.

I'm always happy to be added into a table game, a plus-one on a jaunt around town, or even just being a partner to check out a new restaurant. I'm also happy just to explore the city on my own and sleep quietly in the evenings.
