About Me

Hi, I'm T. I travel. I see. I eat. Currently on a trip (18 months & counting), eating my way through Southeast Asia.

I first joined Couchsurfing back in 2008 during the early days of the community. Life took over for a while, but I’m back now and keen to reconnect. My references might have some dust on them, but they are genuine and reflect the traveler I’ve always been. I’m looking forward to creating some new memories in the 2025 era.

I believe life is too short for boring conversations and bad food. I work hard, but I travel harder. I value honesty, sharp wit, and people who don’t take themselves too seriously. If there is a local hidden gem or a rooftop with a view, I am already on my way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am not looking for a free sofa; I am looking for a local perspective. Hotels are sterile and predictable. I want the stories you won’t find on a tourist brochure. I am here to meet locals who can show me the "real" side of their city, and perhaps challenge me to a game of CoD (fair warning: I’m level 77)

Interests

I am fascinated by how things work - from tech stacks to city layouts. I enjoy dissecting why certain things become "meta" and others fall off. I also have a keen interest in local architecture and how it shapes the vibe of a neighbourhood.

Music, Movies, and Books

Let's just say I'm a curious soul so...I'll read anything from an archie comic to The Alchemist. Music would literally include everything from Frank Sinatra, to progressive house. For movies & series - I'll watching most thingds from Coco to dramas in a foreign language (no, I do not do psychological thrillers and horror).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once navigated a foreign city with a dead phone, zero local currency, and a map drawn on a napkin. It turned into the best day of the trip because it forced me to actually talk to people. Sometimes getting lost is the only way to find the good stuff. Oh and yes, this was in HongKong.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I could share my business/non profit experiences to help with anything you may need. I'm an experienced english teach (if you or anyone you know needs a lesson).

Learn: Teach me your local slang and the one dish your grandmother makes better than anyone else.

Share: I’ll bring the best stories, a great bottle of whatever you drink, and a guaranteed laugh.

What I Can Share with Hosts

1. My knowledge (especially historical and culinary) - for an evening of great chats.
2. I'm quite the practical helper - need help with something, let me get it for you (dishes washed, fridge organinsed, room cleaned up etc.)
