About Me

Welcome fellow couchsurfer,

There I am, Titouan, 26 years old, French. I grew up in a town near Bordeaux and lived in places such as Tours, Poitiers, Périgueux, Toulouse. I also used to live in Manchester, UK, for a year and a half. I love the Brittish landscapes and the Mediterranean culture. I am learning piano again as I love what you can express touching this instrument... I tried to learn guitar and harmonica before, but it wasn't really a success! haha

I found a passion in the art of making cocktails there in England although I don't drink massively as we could think about bartenders.
Trying to stay open minded, I went to the UK to learn English in the first place. The only goal for me was to learn how to be able to communicate more easily with as many people as possible. I'm really glad I lived this experience there so now I am confident when I plan my trips!

I'm studying since october 2017 and it'll last a few years. After wandering around, walking the Earth and all, I felt the need to do something more "important". So now I want to learn agronomy and ecology to bring up new ideas in the agriculture's transition from an intensive and destructive way of using the soil to a more sustainable, respectful and cleverer way of growing vegetables of all sorts.

What else... I don't watch TV that much, some films sometimes to improve my English listening. I like reading though. SCI FI is my relaxing kind of book, but also I like history books, philosophy, environmental ones, and I'm getting to the french classics. I was a bit ashamed to be french without knowing the french literature... Right now I'm discovering Descartes and an American one, Thoreau.

Well I like going around with my friends, talking about this and that with a glass of wine, these little pleasures make my happiness :)
For 18 months now, I've been involved in a French NGO called "Agronomist and veterinarian whithout borders" and I'm trying to build a local group in my new city Périgueux. We promote family farming, agroecological ways of farming, highlight the importance of women in farms, etc... Basically, we're doing international solidarity specifically in agriculture development. I'm just a volunteer to promote it, but it's mainly a professionnal NGO with hundreds of professionals within 20 countries.

Let's meet to get to know more each other and share things together, because happiness is something that has to be shared to exist. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I truly believe the fairest way of living our lives is to share things as much as we can. I don't really believe in money, I believe in honesty, trust, sharing, good times, curiosity and chilling. Life is tricky sometimes, why would we make it harder? :)

Interests

I turned vegan 3 and a half years ago. Which means I'm intersted in the animal condition and about veggie cooking! :)
I also love to walk around and discover cities, regions, countries, etc... Well, I reckon like all of us couchsurfers, isn't it? I love going to all kind of art museums mainly, street art exhibitions. My favorites are the impressionism movement and Toulouse Lautrec. But I'm open minded ^^
Books about philosophy, science fiction, history, etc... But I'm not an expert. If you have any good advice though, come with some references!
I love music, especially live gigs. Despite my main styles are dub, drum&bass, trance and "hippie" rock, give me a classical orchestra and I'll be the happiest man in the world!
Come on guys, let's hike together in some beautiful places :D Also I started to do climbing as I went back to study. I just love it! So please send me a message about your climbing spots and ideas, I get to know more about this incredible sport!

Music, Movies, and Books

Well you know it all from my previous comment about "interests".
But to be more specific I'd say my favourite song is "Free bird" of Lynyrd Skynyrd, favourite film "Forrest Gump" and the one book should be... The "bicentennial man", a novel of Isaac Asimov. "Les fourmis" ("the ants") of the French writer Bernard Werber is amazing too.
Well so many good songs, films and books :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think everything is relative...
Something that I felt amazing to me could be my departure to England. I'm just back from there, after a year and a half spent in Manchester to learn English with no purpose but being able to talk to more people than French ones.
Well I decided to go there within 10 days after seriously thinking about it. I didn't know anyone, didn't have any promise of jobs and I almost didn't speak the language. Like, almost nothing...
I went from Bordeaux all way up there by train mainly, stopping by where my friend lived. I stopped then in Poitiers, Tours, Angers, St Nazaire (near Nantes), Paris, Lille, Brussels and Amsterdam. I finally took a boat at Hook van Holland to get in the UK. Unfortunately I missed a coach there so I had to sleep in the street for one night as it was too late and I was completely lost. Well it was December and I was 19.
It was scary, but no harm happened to me which makes it my number one amazing experience so far :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I don't know what to write in that section, I don't pretend to be no teacher of anything... I could teach you welding if you bring a welding machine with you? :P Or make a cocktail eventually?
Anyway we'll see, don't we?

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I'd love to share with a host is a cultural exchange. I like to go and meet new places not only to see them but to live them. And I believe it's also an opportunity for this place to see a bit of what I've got in my backpack!
Well, if we can share some food and something to drink, it'd be a pleasure as a starter! With some more time, why not a walk around or some activities of your advice?
