Even if you can't offer a "couch" to sleep on, I'd love to meet locals and get to know the real city highlights during my (usually) short visits to new places. The best solo-trips I've had were always when I met new people and tried something unexpected together.

I read all the time! Books are great but on a daily basis I read a lot of magazines both online and in print: Atlas Obscura, Eater, Lucky Peach, and Outside are all particular favorites.

I've spent time on a lot of farms throughout the United States - I've helped herd sheep, fed pigs, and even driven a chicken to the hospital.
