About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet cool people.
ABOUT ME
I work full time, run a business, and have a million side projects, but I love meeting new people, and I'm banking up my vacation time to travel more.
In January 2010, I went to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I met some young entrepreneurs there, who introduced me to some business contacts I am still leveraging today. One person I met at CES invited me to the NAMM show in Anaheim the following week, which as an audio geek was really fun. The rest of that quarter I dedicated to my job- at the time I was a production manager for all the concerts on my school's campus. Not being in school allowed me to dedicate more time and energy to campus entertainment that I was able to during the school year.
I loved that job, because I got to be a part of a team that made things happen. I love being able to see my energy and efforts produce something real - I find school frustrating because my energy devoted to my classes produces no usable product. I like productivity, I like being busy. Unfortunately I also need to sleep, so as much as I'd love to have a "work hard/Play hard" mentality, if I were to stay up till 3am every night, I'd never be healthy enough to do anything.
PHILOSOPHY
People tell me that I'm smart, but I know many people far smarter than I am who never get credit for it. It's all in how you present yourself. I think nothing gets you further in life than building relationships. By being respectful, helpful, and above all else, kind, a person can establish relationships that are mutually valuable and empowering.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I initially joined while traveling, hoping to find a place to stay - Instead, I've ended up hosting many travelers passing through Davis, and I've met a great cadre of kind and interesting people. I've made friends locally, and met people from half way around the world. Who knew there were so many world travelers passing through Davis?
Interests
I love computers, everything from barcode scanners (which I think are super cool) to MacOS to Windows to Linux. I have a smartphone, and I love having the connectivity, but I think at times it becomes too distracting.
I'm a huge pro audio nerd- I've been a sound guy since I was in 6th grade, and I have my own live sound business in Davis, CA, USA.
I love science, especially science education - I worked at a science museum for 6 years, and I had amazing experiences as an educator.

Music, Movies, and Books
The most played artist in my music library is Portugal. The Man. I love the band the OaKs, Sigur Ros, and other "hipster" music. I am constantly searching for new dance mashups, (and eagerly await my next free weekend to make it to Club Bootie in San Francisco).
My favorite movie of all time is Goodnight and Good Luck.
I am quite embarrassed to say I rarely read for pleasure, as I definitely value the intellectual and introspective qualities of curing up with a good book. I guess, as awful an excuse as it is, I can never find the time. I am slowly working my way through a book about Facebook, and am (equally slowly) reading several business oriented books, but that hardly counts.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most memorable travel experience I have had was definitely my trip to Costa Rica, where I worked with nesting leatherback sea turtles as they dug nests and laid their eggs on the beach. My group was collecting data about the turtles and their nests as part of an ongoing conservation effort.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a fair bit about live sound (for concerts, corporate events, etc.) and I love talking about gigs and teaching folks to wrap cables the techie way (over-under).
I love esoteric knowledge, and I am always willing to have a chat about anything from computers to world economic history. I know more about the former than the latter, but maybe you can teach me a thing or two?
