About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet interesting people who want to surf in Regina and will host me in other locations

ABOUT ME

I teach French Immersion to primary students in Lumsden. I love working with these young learners and seeing the sparks as they learn a new language.
I love to travel, but don't do it as much as I would like. Deron (my partner) and I often default to a trip to Vegas in February to escape the cold Saskatchewan winters. We love Vegas, and it's cheap. However, I am planning on taking a year off of teaching in 2021/2022 and hope to spend most of that time traveling, including visiting my sister and her family in New Zealand.
I am a big fan of board games of all kinds. I love to learn new games and teach mine to friends.
I am non-religious and politically on the left side of the spectrum. I have friends who are conservative and can have respectful conversations with them as long as the respect is mutual. I love having fun and trying new things. I prefer a pub to a bar, but am usually up for anything once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, surf and want to get more involved. I <3 this community!

If you are requesting to stay with me, please use the couch request button, and not just send a message. I will not accept requests of people that do not have a complete profile.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a few surfers, have not yet had the chance to surf, and I have stayed on couches with friends throughout my travels. A good friend of mine went to school at Brown and Harvard, and now lives in Chicago. I have been lucky enough to be able to visit him in all locations and he has provided me with a couch to crash on.

Music, Movies, and Books

Recently I have really enjoyed listening to The Jerry Cans from Iqaluit. I can't understand the lyrics, but I love the sounds.
I like going to live, local music venues and typically prefer folk and rock to metal or punk.

My current favourite book is The Break by Katherena Vermette.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in New York in 2003 with a friend. We had not planned on walking by ground zero, but we just happened by it on our walk. It was a sight that really impacted me to see the gaping hole in person. The impact that visit had on me was actually surprising. I did not expect to be moved by that part of my New York visit.

My husband and I went to Alaska with friends and took an Alaskan cruise. I had already been to the Yukon, and Nunavut, so had some northern experiences, but I was completely amazed by the beauty of Alaska. The zip-line tour we took was a highlight!
