About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a meaningful life by loving and caring for others while being the best person I can be.

ABOUT ME

I am a cheerful, upbeat woman with a passion for teaching. I have been teaching for 34 years and have taught grades 4 through 12. I am a Christian and thoroughly enjoyed reading The Shack and So You Don't Want to Go to Church Anymore. I also enjoy performing and have participated in the local mystery dinner theater.

I love to meet people and enjoy the experiences they bring to my door. I had the pleasure of operating a bed and breakfast in my former historic home in the town of Wellington for 12 years, and generally hosted families that were connected with Oberlin College, a private liberal arts school with an internationally known conservatory of music.

PHILOSOPHY

I love people! I want to continue to invest in others and be encouraging, supportive, and loving. God loves me from wherever I am at in my life and I want to be like Him when I have opportunities to relate to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few families myself and also assisted my fiance' with his guests, in Akron, Ohio. Together we have done some traveling and stayed with surfers in Michigan and Indiana.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the pleasure of meeting a variety of people with all kinds of stories to tell. From authors, to band members, to executives, to Alaskan marine biologists, and single moms with their children, this has been a rich and exciting opportunity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy movies based on true stories, and books that are entertaining and topic-oriented. I am an "easy" listener and classical music fan. I love Josh Groban, Jim Brickman, The 3 Tenors, and Nice Shoes ( the group my son is a member of, lol).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering for "Joni and Friends", a special needs summer camp for children and adults including their families. I did this one summer and it changed me and my teaching style in a most positive manner. An amazing experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have very limited travel experience and limited resources to do much traveling, so, it is my hope to bring others to me and to learn and share while they spend time at my couch. I can offer a taste of life in a historic village and conversation and interest on a variety of topics.
