About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get back to the grindstone...until the next trip.

ABOUT ME

I was raised in a crappy little town in West Texas. A while back I moved to the beautiful city of Austin, where I fit in a whole lot better. I'm pretty laid-back, and always trying to find the humor in things. In my opinion there's too much seriousness in life already not to make a joke out of everything. In my free time I enjoy writing, reading, listening to music, learning about and drinking delicious beers, watching sports (especially basketball and baseball - go Phils!) and trying to come up with grand plans for hitting the road for as long as I can.
I'm extremely open to and interested in different cultures; I always have been, it's why I love traveling so much. Even just going to another state is exciting to me--everywhere has something new to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't travel to get away from it all; travel to get into it all.

...and also, Hoch die Hörner!

Music: I love Rush, a lot of heavy metal, Fugazi, The Grateful Dead, bluegrass/americana music and much more.

Movies: Wes Anderson.

Books: Copious amounts of sci-fi, fantasy, and comics. Yeah, I'm one of those guys.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked 11 km with a sort-of injured foot through mist and mud and rain in the Ardennes to get to the monastery where my favorite beer is brewed. What would you do for beer?
