About Me

Recently moved back to NYC after spending pretty much my entire life abroad (mostly Germany but also the Netherlands, South Africa and Hong Kong). Since I don't know many people in NYC, it'd be great to meet some cool people to hang out with after work or on the weekends.
----------
Like most people on here I'm a travel addict, always on the lookout for the next getaway. I try to go as far as my budget takes me and have a potential itinerary in mind for pretty much any region of the world, just in case I happen to come across some cheap flights.

I consider myself to be pretty laid back, enjoy a good laugh and am a huge fan of sarcasm :P

I was born in Germany, but spent my early childhood years in the States, ended up back in Germany just in time for first grade. I'm in the process of completing my degree in Logistics Management in the Netherlands, just completed an exchange semester in Hong Kong and have recently moved to New York, where I will be staying for the foreseeable future.
I grew up bilingually and have a pretty diverse family, which I believe makes me quite lucky. Also, I take great interest in foreign languages and love learning new things about other cultures and customs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I do quite a bit of solo traveling, I mostly use CS to meet people along the way, either by surfing their couch or exploring new places together with fellow travelers and locals alike.

Unfortunately my current living situation doesn't allow me to host anyone though. I'm glad to meet up and show you around though.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've had the opportunity to surf and meet up with other CSers in Canada, the United States, South Africa and across Asia. Since I've spent most of my life living in places that aren't usually part of people's travel plans, I've never really been requested to host though. I do hope that I move to a more interesting place after college though, so I can give back by hosting.

Interests

traveling (what a surprise!), aviation, geography, foreign languages & cultures, snowboarding, biking and also the occasional beer or wine.

As far as nightlife goes I'm not a big fan of clubs. I prefer hanging out at a relaxed bar or ideally outside and having a few drinks with a nice group of people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movie-wise I like anything that makes me laugh but also thrillers and action movies.

I don't have a specific kind of music taste or favorite band, whether or not I like a song is pretty much hit or miss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering as an English teacher in rural Northern Thailand and contributing my share to a flood relief project

Living with a family of Burmese refugees in their hut made entirely of bamboo for a couple of days

Being locked in a cage together with seven fully grown tigers
