About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I try to live life to its fullest. I'll be graduating college soon, so maybe it would be good to start think about life after college, but for now I am content.

ABOUT ME

I walk into any situation with an open mind. I try to just go with the flow and have fun along the way. I love travel and really like going beyond the role of a tourist to become integrated (at least partially) with the locals. I am a senior at Middlebury college studying computer science and geography. At home I've hosted exchange students from around the globe and was an exchange student myself in Egypt for 6 months. I'm a big fan of music and play the guitar, viola, harmonica, didgeridoo, baglama, and jaw harp. I also enjoy swimming and fencing. I love the outdoors and go camping as often as I can. I lead hiking trips for my school and am in charge of the outdoor program there, one of the most renowned in the country. I travel often and love spending time with the friends I make on my journeys.

PHILOSOPHY

"One day your life will flash before your eyes; make sure it's worth watching"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think for everyone on here the price is at least one reason to couch surf, but there is so much more than that. I mentioned that I don't necessarily like doing only the "tourist" things in a new place. One of the best ways I've found to see parts of a city that most visitors don't get to see is to make a friend there. If you're lucky, they may be altruistic enough to show you around, but more likely they'll at least have names of places and directions that can help you on your way. Beyond just the travel benefits, I enjoy meeting new people and gaining understandings of new cultures. Staying with a local is the best way to do this. Lastly, the people I've met couchsurfing have been some truly amazing individuals. I believe that this type of program draws specific types of people, and I've found it to be a type I get along well with.
