About Me

Hey Couchsurfers!
My name is Tobi, im 20 years old and come from Freiburg at the Southwest of Germany. At the moment I'm studying in Heidelberg, Germany, to become a teacher once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I'm on a trip with the scouts or alone, I often think about the basic expression of being on the road:
"When you wake up in the morning, you don't know yet where you're gonna go to bed in the evening."
Following this thinking, I like the idea of Couchsurfing because it puts people from everywhere together and lets you learn about a country or a place from a local.

Interests

Since I've been a scout for all of my life, I naturally love being outside, hiking, cycling and watching the nature.

I've started to play Softball⚾️ at our university team, but you can have hour-long philosophical talks about football with me as well⚽️

After finishing my A-levels, I lived on the island Sylt for one year, doing a voluntary year with a nature protection NGO. That's why I love being at the sea, watching birds whereever I go and keeping an eye on travelling and living more sustainable ( If you want, let's go birding together!🐥🦅)

I've always been a musician - I love playing bassoon and guitar, and I'm currently trying to improve my ukulele skills🎸

Music, Movies, and Books

I like listening to Rock, Indie, HipHop and more, mostly German Bands.

Books I just read and loved:
"King Rat" by James Clavell, "The Genius of Birds" by Jennifer Ackerman

I like movies ranging from Science-Fiction, action and fantasy to classics such as Blues Brothers, Star Wars or Monty Python.
Absolute favourite: The Hunt for Red October

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Doing migratory bird countings at the North Sea when the huge swarms of geese and shore birds arrived🔭

Travelling to the World Scout Jamboree 2015 in Japan🇯🇵

Couchsurfing around England for two weeks on my own🚄🚅🌍

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd describe myself as a funny, friendly and uncomplicated person. My cooking skills focus on improvised action, so don't expect a 5-Star-Menu but I can always mix something tasty :D
I'm always in for chilling with music and a beer, and I love learning from and talking with locals, even if we don't have much time together☺

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Denmark, England, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Palestine, Slovenia, Switzerland
