About Me

Adventurous Full Time Traveler, constantly moving from place to place. Traveling through europe until end of 2018. Not following any plan, just living day by day.
Extremly keen to meet new people along the way. If you see me in your area, don't be shy to shoot me a message.
I can contribute with interesting and deep conversations, teaching you how to fly a drone, taking you for an adventure or cooking dinner in my van with an epic view 😜.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Having realized that it doesn't matter where you are, it mainly depends on who you are with in terms of how you will like an experience, my number one objective for me during my travel is to meet new people.

I am pretty much open to meet anyone as long as you are friendly and open minded.

Interests

Making videos is my passion. I started off with Photography at the age of 13 and had my own photo business by the end of 16. After tapping into video making I was attracted by the challenge it was posing on me. Doing everything you need to do in photography, as light considerations, the right framing, lens choice etc., but extending the required skills to camera movement, recording all kinds of audio and video editing, just seemed so much more appealing to me. Ever since, I am working on improving my skills. Feel free to check out a few of my videos on my IG (tobias_heckmann).

Doing Webdevelopment is something I started with as well at the age of 13. I programmed a few websites and started learning HTML and CSS mainly from YouTube. Building up on that later, I am now also programming in JavaScript, PHP, Liquid and the Meteor Framework.

One of my biggest passions, which also currently provides me with income is marketing. I am however not focused on making nice slogans or writing blog articles. I am focused on performance marketing that will get you the most bang for the buck.

I should also mention that I am deeply in love with the internet. It opens opportunities to learn pretty much anything for free & connect people in a way that was not possible before.

Currently I am going for a run almost every day. It fits well with my travel lifestyle. Apart from that I do really enjoy weight lifting and I am happy to go if I get access to any gym. I also play tennis, table tennis, squash and go swimming when I get the chance.

I have a deep interest in psychology & read many books in the field. It amazes me how the human mind works and how our perception deviates from the reality.

In the future I am looking to start a new company. I am not entirely sure what I am aiming for with it, but I know that I would like to enable people to connect in a better way through technology. This doesn't mean I am going to do the next Tinder or Couchsurfing 😂. I am much more interested in the hardware side of things and developing something completely new, that might change the way people interact fundamentally. If that sounds interesting to you, I'll tell you more once we meet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movie lover! I have seen almost everything!

Music - I will dance to any music
My favorite music to listen to is Hip-hop however. Even though I don't like the lyrics of many songs, I like the rythm and the sound to dance to it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I lived in Thailand for a year to study there. However, I moved there with some friends who started their business in Bangkok. An app that aims to connect people to find new friends, based on personality fit. I developed the app for them and to market the app to Expats in Bangkok, we started throwing parties every weekend in our flat, to which we would invite strangers who are living long term in Bangkok and would like to find some good friends in the city. We had 100 people coming every weekend with a constantly changing audience. These events were incredible in terms of their vibe. Everyone attending did not know anyone at the party so it was very easy to start a new conversation with anyone. Everyone got to know so many new people in one evening, that it was almost easy to find somebody you would get along with really well. We saw many long term friendships result from these parties and we profited from them as well, getting to know lots of cool people.
We even moved in later that year with people with met at our parties and got close friends with.
