About Me
Hi folks, I'm Tobi.
I'm currently doing (or rather trying to do) my PhD in chemistry at the University Jena in Thuringia, Germany ;) During my stay in Melbourne (Australia) I discvovered my passion for travelling and meeting new, especially international people, as it's super intriguing to talk to people with different cultural backgrounds. I love adventures (travelling solo or in groups). I'm relaxed, open-minded and companiable, so I don't mind at all travelling with people I just met the day before. Spontaneity creates the biggest adventures and surprises :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While travelling I try to get in touch with locals as they know and see their own city in a completely different way compared to tourists. I don't like classic tourist spots, where hundreds of people queue in order to get the perfect selfie/picture. I prefer natural scenes alone or with my travel buddies. That's why I like the concept of couch surfing, as it offers the possibility to get insider tips, not just regarding travelling but also with regard to bars and restaurants. Furthermore, it's a great way to get to know people all over the world :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Electronic, house and techno music are my passion; but I also enjoy to listen to classic film music (Hans Zimmer, LOTR, GoT), charts, oldies and many other genres; it just depends on my current mood and the people surrounding me
Movies: Inception, WEIT. Die Geschichte von einem Weg um die Welt, Interstellar, Sicario and many more
Books: I'm currently reading lots about personal growth (e.g. positive psychology, mindfulness) and functional fitness training (Mark Lauren - You're your own gym)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My first solo travel in Tasmania with all the poeple I met and experiences I made there (seeing wild dolphins for the first time)
Stargazing in the Tongariro National Park (Mordor in Lord of the Rings) in New Zealand. Never seen a starlit sky like that before
Roadtrips in New Zealand and Australia with my friends there - driving along the streets, listening to great music, being surrounded by your friends, being totally independent on where to drive and where to stay - that's freedom for me
Teach, Learn, Share
My teachers always tried to teach me that learning is a lifelone process and they were right! Every day, every new adventure, every challenge have the potential to teach you something. You just have to be open for it :-)
So I'm happy to share some of my experiences and are always more than happy to listen to yours ;-)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy to cook simple and healthy meals - so I'd love to have a mutual cooking session. Furthermore I love to being out in nature. So I'm always open for some walking or even hiking, cylcling.
