Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted surfers in Mexico and more recently here in Dublin I have hosted about 16 couch surfers so far and enjoyed their company and stories very much.
I really want to make more meetings like the laguage exchange and other sub clubs.

I just moved into a new room in the center of Dublin and have to check with my house mates how open they are to the experience but I am sure I can host quite a few people during the year.

Unlike most of CS I am not afraid of negative references. If you feel like I didn't display the true CS spirit in hosting you, you have every right to be honest about it. The same goes for me. I only left one negative ref in all my 30+ CS experiences for a truly rude, dishonest and unappreceative surfer so don't be afraid! ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After many amazing hosting experiences in Dublin I traveled trough South America for 9 months and have couchsurfed in almost every country I visited, from Trinidad to Southern Brazil. Even when I didn't surf I met up with local couchsurfing groups and had an amazing time with them!

Interests

My biggest passion is traveling (doh), I love writing just as much, I'm a social animal not afraid to discuss anything even politics and religion but only when appropeate and always with lots of respect.

Music, Movies, and Books

Shawshank Redemption, As Good As it Gets, Spanglish, the Indiana Jones movies (the last one not so much)
All Dan Brown books, What is the What, Life of Pi, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Think and Grow Rich, The Power of Positive Thinking, Harmonic Wealth

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've ridden camels, horses, elephants, cows and donkies. I liked the elephant best.Went on a balloon ride over the Netherlands and GermanyBeen bitten by dogs, a monkey and a dolphin once.Almost been arrested for illegal border crossing at the Guyana/Suriname borderFell 7 meters down a slippery mountain side while on a trek to La Ciudad Perdida in ColombiaAlmost got bombed in a terrorist bombing on a synagoge in Istanbul, Turkey in 2003.Been to New York City 28 times and still need to go there at least once a year.Been to 44 countries in the world so far.I've seen Machu Pichu and Ankor Watt but I was far more impressed by the Mayan ruins of Tikal (Guatemala) and Bagan (in Myanmar).

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot of geography after having to learn it all for my tourism education. I also have a lot of knowledge when it comes to culture and religion. I am pretty fluent in Dutch, German, English,(somewhat in) Spanish and will start learning Portugese this trip. I am working on an ebook with exclusive and unknown travel tips (I've worked in the travel industry for quite a few years) so I could tell you all about that as well. I've already helped a few fellow CS to save a lot of money on their flights.
