Bonjour,

I'm Céline, a 23 years old student living in France at the moment. I'm currently preparing my English Master in France, I also took a written contest and am waiting for results at the end of May. My goal is to be an english teacher one day, in France or elsewhere. I started travelling two years ago with an Erasmus exchange in Swansea, Wales, and then I have been an assistant in Southend high school for girls for a year... Since I set foot on the British territory, I find it harder and harder to leave it, but this year I had no choice because of my job plans... I really hope to pass my contest and be able to travel again soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my friends advertised it to me after her trip to Dublin, but I was sceptical and wanted to try by myself. I can't say I have been disappointed up to this point !
As mentionned above I love to travel and I know how important , expensive and stressful the booking of an accomodation can be. I think this website is the best thing I've ever seen!

Interests

I am deeply in love with British culture, the more I discover it, the more I want to stay there! Being a student, literature is my best friend as well. As mentionned before, I love travelling through different cities but I also like nature and the countryside (Wales !), maybe because I was raised in a farm :) I'm a sportive person as well, I love to try new experiences. Well, another cliché about being French, I'm a very good cook ! I like to go out, meet new people and exchange stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of different types of music, although maybe what's on my MP3 at the moment tends to be more related to pop rock music. I can't say I'm a fan of one singer only, but there are some people and bands I admire like Arctic monkeys, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Eminem, P!nk, The Script, Ed Sheeran ... I only don't like heavy metal and Alain Voulzy's songs
My tastes for movies are quite the same I'm afraid, I like romances like Titanic as much as Avatar, Amélie or The Green Line... And don't start me on disney movies! However I really don't like Sci-fi and Horror movies.
As far as books are concerned, I wish I had a second life to read more of them! I really love this time-consuming passion and I don't seem to have enough spare time at the moment :/ I love classics like Maupassant, Victor Hugo, Jane Austeen, Virginia Woolf, Henry James, Shakespeare, as well as modern ones like J.K Rowlings, Laurell K Hamilton, Anna Gavalda, Amélie Nothomb, Ernest Hemingway ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I almost set my house on fire once, not on purpose obviously. It was winter and I was cold so I added a big log in the fireplace, and it started burning and burning .... I had a look at the temperature in the house and it was 35 degrees (which is not normal at all in my region, especially at 9:00 pm)! So I went outside to look for my mother and I found her, staring up at the roof, there were flames coming out of our chimney! Fortunately, no one was hurt, and my parents managed to cool the fire down without the help of firemen. But after that event, I couldn't put wood anymore inside the fireplace, I'd rather freeze !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my stories and my experiences in the different places I've visited so far. I can give recommendations for places to visit, to go for a drink or to eat. I can cook or bake for my guests of course, I love that! Byt if they are mitivated to make me duscover their typical meal, I'm in as well of course! I'll try to be as available for you as possible and to make you feel at home 😉
