About Me

My girlfriend Tara and I have 3 weeks in The southern states to explore and travel. We are both easy going and enjoy life, a bit of music, a few drinks and intense board games if available. Otherwise we are pretty normal. I’m into fishing in a big way, play bit of guitar, design and build stuff, love architecture and trains. Tara’s a surfer, an extrovert and loves people, chatting and also dogs. I’m a cat guy, mostly. While not ‘young’ anymore, we definitely not old, especially on the inside where it matters.

While here in the states we don’t just hole up in hotels, we are hoping to get out and meet real people and get to know the place much more than tourist face value. Hoping couch surfing will help us with this.

I hosted on couch surfing for a year or so in 2015-16 and had a great time. It was a cool experience. Met some awesome people and made good friends. Unfortunately haven’t been in a position to host since then as we’ve been moving around NZ ourselves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet real and interesting people.

In NZ we like relaxing in the sun and luckily live near the beach. Mostly outdoors stuff in between relaxing evenings with music, few drinks and whatever entertainment is on offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like a range of music, mainly rock, funk, folky stuff and anything with rhythm.

Read mainly fantasy books, but dabble in history and most recently I'm reading how to have a healthy diet!

Favourite movie = Shawshank Redemption. Also like quirky movies, and good versions of fantasy books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The day after my final university exam I hopped straight on a plane to Taiwan with my best friend. We had one bag, $500, and no idea what we'd do. Awesome. I ended up staying in Taiwan for 1.5 years...my friend stayed 7!
