About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Go everywhere, do everything

ABOUT ME

Grew up on the east coast, moved to Seattle to work in the tech industry after college, then left to tour around the world telling jokes for nickels (figuratively, at least on good days). Currently split time between LA and London.

You can see a clip of my comedy at www.tobythecomic.com .

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you.
The fastest learner wins.
Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been lucky enough to stay with great people in several different places - Salt Lake City, London, Brighton and others. I also try to go to Couchsurfing events when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've probably surfed 5 or 6 times and always had a good experience. Hoping to host as well but haven't gotten any requests!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting invited to a funeral in South Africa, which apparently is a social event, being welcomed & helping throw dirt on the coffin.

Teach, Learn, Share

Open strong and close strong. People remember their first and last impressions.

Specialize. Do one thing very well for a small number of people.

The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of them.

Find the field that everyone thinks is dead, where nobody believes there's anything left to discover, and live there, because that's where the next big thing will come from. - Mr. Curry, my high school physics teacher
