About Me
CURRENT MISSION
On the verge of a very exciting move!
ABOUT ME
I love the city AND the open country, give me a mountain or a metropolis! I enjoy farm work and I taught English in Korea from 2013-2014.
I love wild camping, weaving, spinning wool, cycling, hiking, brewing beer, typewriters and languages.
People have described me as polite and respectful, so that's fine :)
PHILOSOPHY
To quote the great Gary Snyder:
"Clean air, clean clear-running rivers; the presence of pelican and osprey and grey whale in our lives; salmon and trout in our streams; unmuddied language and good dreams."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travelled in France in 2007 when I first participated as a couchsurfer. When I lived on the sunny south coast of England for the first half of 2008 I began my career as a CS host! I hosted Couchsurfers when I lived on my canal boat too. I love the idea of a platform that connects people in real life in a positive way, it's got to be the best use for the Internet :)
Maybe see you out in the real world! :D
Interests
Traditional crafts, frothy coffee, energetic farm work, medieval architecture, co-operative social change, exploring coves and cloisters!
I have been a hand spinner of wool & a weaver for fun for 12 years, I am currently knitting a jumper from my handspun yarn - a lot of work! The wool came from one black sheep and one white, both live about 10 miles from our house.

Music, Movies, and Books

My Neighbour Totoro, Dead Man, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Little Big Man, Dr Strangelove.
Music:
Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz... almost anything!
Books:
I used to spend all my time with my head in a book, I'm learning to rediscover the patience to read again!
I particularly liked Kerouac and the beats, the Romantic poets & strange sci-fi.
RECOMMEND ME A BOOK! ^_^
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking the Westweg route for 300km solo through the Black Forest in Germany for charity was scary but amazing at the same time!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you all about life on the canals from personal experience, how to weave a scarf on a loom, play the guitar, brew up a tasty ale, spin wool, make butter... I'm also a qualified English language teacher so I can help anyone that wants to improve their English!

I like to cook!
