Overview
About Me
I'm married and have lived here all my life. Although I don't live in "Las Vegas" I live in a suburb as the entire valley is all one now with separations only political, not geographical. We live in a super quiet neighborhood in what I would call a masterplanned community with amenities and we are about a 20 minute drive to the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. We have 100's of stores and restaurants within a 7 minute drive. Although I put racing in my profile, there is not much of it happening locally on a regular basis. If you are coming here, and you're into it, we have some indoor karting places you can visit and I actually work at an exotic car driving experience where you can rent an exotic by the lap and drive very very fast. If I'm staying with you, anything racing related would be great to see or participate in.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The idea was brought up by my wife's friend. There are good people in this world and I wouldn't mind meeting some of them. Here in the states, I feel like we are on an isolated island. Europe, South America, Australia, Africa, and Asia have amazing people. Although I can't meet them all, a small representative sample of them wouldn't be a bad idea.
Interests
Open wheel racing. Formula One is my favorite, but I will watch IndyCar as well. Not too much else is televised here. NASCAR just simply doesn't interest me. I actually race karts and have been in some pretty notable races and raced in some pretty amazing places. My favorite is Sonoma, the IndyCar/NASCAR track. Have been there many times. I love that place (and it loves me-I have always done well there). Laguna Seca is also amazing but I have gone the fastest at a place called Buttonwillow and personally love Willow Springs raceway simply because you get to draft almost the entire time.

Music, Movies, and Books
EDM/Techno is great. Some hard rock like Evanescence and the Scorpions is okay, although overplayed. Club type music has really had a renaissance around here and if the clubs werent so hard to get into, I would go more.
The Shawshank Redemption, The Italian Job, and all of the Bourne movies had my interest, but I have become very picky as Hollywood has put out some real bad movies in the recent past. Just saw Atomic Blonde and it was decent. Had some great 80's alternative music featured prominently in it and that really topped the movie off.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We have the largest go-kart race in the world here in Las Vegas and I got to partake in a few of its bigger events. I raced it in 2008, got to watch Michael Schumacher race it in 2011 and I got to race a guy (kid) named Max Verstappen in 2012. He only finished one spot ahead of me although neither of us did especially well, but it is in the record books. The guy is a force to be reckoned with in F1 today.
Teach, Learn, Share
I was BORN here in Las Vegas 52 years ago. I grew up just west of downtown and spent 15 years in that same house. When the city grew, I moved further and further away. To this day, even on the worst of traffic days, you can still make it from the complete opposite corners of the city in a maximum of 45-50 minutes. If you are interested in gaming, I can show you the nicest places to gamble or the places with the best odds (winning is up to you however)--I do not gamble. If your goal is to see the hotels without gambling, I think there is at least one thing to see (besides gaming) at each property. If you're wanting to go clubbing, I can give advice on that as well. I don't go much, but I will go. We have some of the most beautiful club spaces in the world. Food has become a primary fixture in our city, although most of the prominent chefs are absentee, the food is still above average. If that's not your scene, my wife and I can cook some pretty descent stuff and we eat quality food. We know what to buy and where to buy it. If nature is your thing, the Grand Canyon is 5 hours away by car or an hour by copter. Tours are available through several local companies. We have beautiful mountains around us and also even better ones 2.5-4 hours away by car in Utah. There are sights like Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, and several other places to visit including the place where Las Vegas started, if you'd like to know how we came into existence.
Although we can't spend every minute with you, we can point you in the right direction and would love to know about where you live as well and would love to have you as a guest in our home. The one thing we ask is that you let us know if you are brining a car. We live in a restricted community that forbids on street parking between midnight and 0600 so parking can be a challenge and you will have to pre-arrange that with us.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Basically, since I've lived here all of my life I can point you in the right direction no matter what your interests are. Just remember Las Vegas is a newer city compared to the rest of the cities in the world (and even the U.S.) so we have very little real culture because our history is so short. Most of the things to do revolve around the casinos or the desert. There is plenty to see and do so leave yourself plenty of time and bring a good pair of walking shoes because whatever you decide to do, you'll need them.
